I recently upgraded my laptop to an i7 laptop with windows 7. M640 @ 2.80 Ghz 2.80 Ghz 4 GB ram 64 Bit OP The built in video card specs say they support SM 4.0
However when I try to run the game after the splash screen the game does not respond and stays in the task bar indefinably and never starts.
My old laptop was running windows xp 32 bit with a much crappier video card.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the game not loading at all and can help me figure it out?

I'm having similiar issues with the same computer specs, whenever I load it up, the splash screen starts and then crashes soon after.

Is this problem only on Singularity or also on TQ?

It happens for both. The install is fresh as well. I just got the laptop yesterday and downloaded the client. ----------------------------------------------- Free Trade Corp - Flash page

Not sure if this helps but I ran the log server and saved the log.

Based on the log then the video device can't be created. The installer should have run the DirectX install but please try the following for me:
Locate the file ...\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe and run the install. Once the install completes then run EVE again. Does it work or does the log end at the same place?
What video card do you have and do you have the latest drivers for it?

That worked, thanks. Strange that it wasn't installed. ----------------------------------------------- Free Trade Corp - Flash page

Indeed since the final thing the EVE installer does is to run this exact DirectX installer in silent mode.

I¦m having similar issues also.
Yesterday worked fine though. W7 on a i5, 4 GB ram, Asus HD5670 VGA.
Could be a coincidence that I installed Civilization 5 after I logged out of EVE ?
(curiously Civilization didnt worked)
Have a log file but cant post it right now.

Had exactly this issue on my old HP laptop (which in all fairness really shouldn't be able to run EvE anyway, but did prior to the patch, barely).
It loaded the splash screen, appeared constipated (it normally does) and closed the splash screen and pretended that noting had happened.
Tried repair, no issues, updated drivers, no issue, sacrificed a chicken and danced backwards around the old machine chanting in latin, no issues (except from the neighbours) but still no EvE :/
Gave up and decided to run two clients on the game rig instead.
But, hey presto, running the dxsetup as mentioned did actually solve the problems!
EvE now once again runs on ye olde laptoppe, slow and asthmatic, and I once again can have my PC char clogging up Jita without having to sacrifice power from the main rig.
ps. I think I know _why_ it failed initially.
I didn't run the normal update sequence. Instead I copied the updated (and working) installation from the main rig to the laptop (on mobile connection and didn't want to download the entire patch one extra time).
This meant that I didn't actually run the installation software, and therefore didn't trigger dxsetup.
While I did err in my ways and behaved most badly it might maybe be a good move for the repair tool to trigger the dxsetup in silent mode once it's done it's job. ds.

I just posted part of this in another thread, but I think this might actually be a better place for it.
I'm also unable to get the client to start since the 1.1.0 release. I'm running XPproX64. To make sure it wasn't my system (newly installed specifically for Eve, I'm normally not a Windows user), I updated everything I could (no dice), then reinstalled the OS and updated everything again.
I just reactivated my account last week after a year of inactivity just after I decided it was worth it to put a Windows partition on this computer. . . maybe that was a mistake.
Here's to hoping the 1.1.1 patch will fix
My ExeFile.exe process sticks around even after the eve.exe process quits, and ties up 85mb of RAM. CPU drops to zero about the same time the splash screen disappears. I was running the last version just fine, and as soon as I patched it quit. I then tried reinstalling a couple of times before finally nuking Windows.
I tried to manually install DirectX as per the instructions here.
How do I generate a log?

Thanks to the guy who suggested getting the C++ redistribute. That's what fixed the problem for me.

I have the same problem on a laptop here. The splashscreen shows, but then the game never starts. Neither of the two proposed solutions work. I've tried the C++ package and running the DirectX solution.
The laptop in question is an Acer Aspire 5520, which should be able the run EVE, according too the requirements.
