This idea also goes with the longer term survival of ships in enemy territory.
I would like to see the cap boosters I use, turn into cap booster empty casings and sent back to my cargo hold once they are used by cap injectors and ancillary shield boosters. The only exception to the rule would be, the casings being destroyed if you overheat the modules that use them...in that case, they just disappear as they do now.
These empy shell cap boosters would should be recharged by your capacitor, by right clicking on them and selecting "Recharge booster". This would basically dump your capacitor into the boosters making them charged again. This should also have some anti abuse measures as I can see people doing some nasty things.
How it would work, is you would right click on the empty shell boosters or booster stack and select recharge. You would get a popup asking you how many boosters to recharge, with a max number showing, which is based on how full your capacitor is. You select how many boosters you want recharged and you get a timer on them. Then basically try not to die while this is going on. OR you could hav ethe procedure use the WHOLE capacitor in the process, regardless of how many you charge, but there is a limit based on your cap size and number of boosters you have.
1. Cannot be used in combat 2. Have each cap booster recharge last as short as 15 seconds for 50 and as long as 45 sec -1 minute for each cap 800. So it would be impractical to continuously cycle cap boosters by warping out and back again with max boosters.
Basically this would be a very time consuming process but if you are out in the middle of nowhere and no cap boosters for sale for 20 hostile jumps, and you are out, it means that if you get in a fight you are dead...which is stupid.

Although I like the idea it would at the same time devalue cap booster charges. They are consumable to drive demand.
I could possibly support a module that would take several empty charges and some capacitor to create a new charge. Perhaps a role for industrial ships other than hauling. However, that industrial could just bring moar charges and ammo for you instead of recycling your old stuff.

The whole idea behind this is to improve 1 ship survivability deep behind enemy lines. In EVE, going behind enemy lines and getting into combat, means you cant really live very long. Not because you cant fight but because you eventually take irreparable damage and are unable to replenish your supply.
Active armor tank without boosters or active shield tank without boosters in PVP is pretty much a death sentence. Which means that it limits the number of engagements to a very small amount because you run out of boosters after 1 fight and voila, go back 20 jumps to get some more.
I would like to see how an industrial brings me cap boosters 18 jumps through 0.0. |
