With mining buddy Largely discontinued and during my search for something usable I have taken it upon me to write a mining manager from scratch.
Inspired on what mining buddy does I've set up a similar feature list. Eve Miner is not a rewrite or update on mining buddy. Eve miner is written from scratch, and will use modern day coding standards in a hosted environment.
Http://eve-online-miner.com for more information.
share your thoughts, ideas and comments please. I'm trying to get an idea if there is actual interest in this.

Edited by: Devilen on 12/01/2011 04:36:43 Looks decent I don't know how many people will be keen with them having to log into your site and not be able to run it on their own site. Also this is going to be a isk paid service? Good luck man but i dont know if people are going to be all to excited about that.
And Miningbuddy orignal creator is stopped working on it but currently I am working on getting it back up and running so its not exactly dead.
Other then that not bad cant see anything about the site other then the out side. Also you have 2 Home buttons on the front page.

As you can find on the update page the inside is not ready yet. And the site needs some tweaks.
I hope/expect a bunch of people want this since it takes away the maintenance and related stuff most people don't want to bother with. And if not.. Well they're missing out on the best mining manager available. ;)

There is nothing to show people what it is like unless they sign up why not place a demo of the site up where users can mess with it and test it out?
Right now I don't see how you can claim this is the best mining manager available other than because you wrote it. Honestly I would LOVE to see compition out here with more Options available!
Good luck and I hope you do allow a demo of your site so people can see it before having to register.

Change from User/Pass to OpenID or IGB authentication.
User/pass on eve related sites just encourages people to use poor security practices.
We are already authenticated you just need to use the methods given by the IGB.

IGB provides no method for authentication. If your talking about those headers, those aren't should not be used for anything that remotely matters.
As for OpenID, who do you suggest be the provider? I seriously dislike the idea of having to use a facebook account to sign into website, especially eve related websites, so until ccp becomes a provider, not a really good option. Now I have no objection if openID is an option, i just don't want it forced on me.

any programmer who knows what hes doing can fake the headers sent to the site to look as if they came from the IGB so I think using both would not be a bad idea or the use of a OpenID would be good too.

Just to add to the above here's a link to thread where Johnathan shows just how easy it is to fake the IGB using Firefox and an extension. http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1011219 -- Finds camping stations from the inside much easier. Designer of Yapeal for Eve API.

As soon as there is something to show there will be screenshots and a demo yes. We're not that far yet. Again, as you can find on the updates it's not yet working.

As for openID. Meh.
Ingame browser authentification is something i'd like to add but i haven't looked at that yet. This however is not a real priority right now but in time should be available.

As I'm happily coding along I've made some visible progress you can see here: http://eve-online-miner.com/screenshots/
Not demo worthy yet, but mining ops can be scheduled and started. From the admin site I have a basic corporation manager and there is an overview for ship fittings. Which will be editable on a per corp basis by it's corp admin.
Corp admins will be able to give user roles to their miners and such for different levels of access.
