PI is fine and good but after running a small PI operation in 0.0 to help offset the fuel costs of my tower, I felt that i was never in ANY risk and risk/rewards is what makes eve. I can drop a command center in orbit in a few seconds warp back to station and set the whole thing up while spinning in station. When it comes time to collect the minerals again i'm never exposed for more then a few seconds to warp to the customs office to pick up my goods.
My idea is pretty simple I think that there should be a docking and loading time with the planetary customs office, so when it comes time to collect your PI goods you have to warp too dock up to the customs office you'd then become immobile while the customs office loads your cargo bay.It shouldn't take forever but just enough that if your unlucky and some one jumps into system and is good with the D scanner there is just the possibility that you can be killed.

translated that for you
why in what ever form of fiery prison of no escape that eve has would you ask for a reason to immobilize some of the lowest EHP ships in the game, and by that i mean Indy's and transports.
I'm sorry but no, freighters can move 600000M3 plus in under a second so should the customs office.
also do remeber that as of current PI is incomplete, dust is suppost to have battle on your Pi installations so there will come a time when you can lose them.

you're only exposed for a short time, but anyone that spots you there once knows you'll be coming back, just not when. Next time you collect stuff, there may be a welcoming party.

The idea that some one is going camp a customs office for at least a day to kill one badger 2 is kinda silly."hey guys saw him there once i bet he's coming back between now and a week from now, better camp it till he comes back". Really if you see known hostiles in local your just not going to undock and wait them out.
In my many months of doing light PI in 0.0 there was never a time I got even close to getting popped.Risk free money like this is kinda against the eve Philosophy, loss is what makes this game better, taking out the risk turns this into wow and makes it uninteresting.

try it in low sec - more pirates makes it a little more challenging. Nearly been popped a few times because the locals know who the PI people are and some even know what planet you use.

So there is risk, it's just that you have taken steps to mitigate it.

0.0, is not instant death. You just picked a dead area or do it at an off time. Gratz, you looked beyond the tall tales of 0.0 and now profit from it. Have ratted for hours and seen no one (blue, red, or grey). Have ap'd a ship just because I get bored with podding myself to empire and give away free kestrel kills once in a while. Period basis to jita...in one piece.
MIght I also recommend not being a squatter, join a blob and lose a few bs' and bc's a month. then you see why 0.0 has isk making opportunities like this. Worst month of war I saw was about 500 mil in losses in that month (busy month, fun one too though, lots of ho'ing on cap mails :) ). NIce thing about 0.0....much easier to make that back not running damsels till you want to kill yourself in rl.

Isn't Dust 514 supposed to fix this sort of thing?

A corpie of mine just recently got caught at the customs office. Lost his ship and load, but pod was ok.

that too....the the blob will expand to console most likely. 0.0 should see the squatters having a harder time with pi so the alliances can free up planets for alliance use only.
For now...op's badger probably shows up on scans with caps and t3's ratting. What would you hunt down...2 ships known to be faction fit, or a cargo expanded badger? Also gonna just say op is lucky. Assuming not alting it and having eyes outside the station, continously undocking to no campers or bubbles....no chance of winning a lottery because using up his luck with his undocks lol.

I do it in VFK the goons capital system that sees a fair amount of hostile traffic per day.
I would like some more constructive discourse then durr your a pirate durr your squater or oh just wait for dust then it will change, my point remains that right here and now that PI is terribly low on the risk factor.

Null sec pilot who doesn't want easy isk...you want 2 pages don't ya?
PI is as easy in null as it is empire. Its by design. Meant to substitute for pos moon mining which is blob or isk favored heavily. Got the numbers or the isk to hire mercs and pos' you hate don't live long.
Nice you put the system in... Black op gangs and hac roams did not go to a vital goon system to pop an industrial. Chump change. True the badget could be carrying 1 billion in cargo....could also be a ratter moving his crap loot to a refine station. Could also be carrying a tank to last long enough to be bait for the tackle waiting for someone to take the bait.
You are using low profile ships and getting the resutls of that Also flying a class of ships not unknown to be used as bait. Its not PI being easy, its your hostiles in system are not going to risk 400 mil+ isk in t2 cruisers on a crappy industrial just as likely to be bait as hauling valuable stuff. Not all hostiles are like your friends in TEST who like to take obvious bait with crap fit titans.

I will never ever hook up a Playstation or WI to play Dust or Eve. How does this affect PI?

Fixed your quoting.
And Dust is aimed at expanding CCP's market share into the console market, and attracting a wider customer base. You already pay them money every month. They're, frankly, not really concerned whether you play DUST or not. They want to get a bite of the console apple and see if it tastes as good as they think.
As for how it affects PI - the general idea will be, DUSTies will invade your planet and destroy your infrastructure, unless you hire your own DUSTies to protect it. Personally, I think it's a hideous idea that's bound to flop over on it's side like a wounded hippo and wail piteously until it finally dies, but...whatever. --Vel
