It's a shame they didn't also win "Most Improved". Rocket fix, lag fix, so many fixes...

Maybe because the 12 MILLION people playing World Of Warcraft are actually playing it and having fun? Not talking abut EvE in forums or voting in polls? They are not hung up on EvE players like alot of low self esteem types are hung up on WoW here. They just don't care.
But yeah we are so much cooler and smarter then them I agree. We are not sheep! Only we see the light! Were the most intelligent MMO gamers evar!

Ha. Have you SEEN the WoW forums? They're overpopulated by people who care way too much about their game. I am certain they'd vote.

From my perspective, the lag is much, much better than it was earlier this year. Maybe if you still see it a lot, its a sure sign that you fly in a blob too much these days. But for the rest of us, its gotten a lot better. :)
Also, thanks for the evemail chain a while back. It was helpful.

THIS was my favourite comment about EVE:
Quote: mCalvert writes: Heh, you all should realize EVE players fuel their spaceships with internet whiners tears.
I can't believe all the negative comments about EVE on that website. Bunch of people that couldn't cut it and lost their Ibis on the first day and quit. I mean really, what's not to like? I can understand, the game is a bit overwhelming when you first start to play, but really....

Eve is a complex game where you are not a hero. Requires lots of learning, reading, and strategy to be really good at it. That doesn't appeal to some people.
I remember when I first played, I read and read and read, guides, item descriptions and attributes, regional maps etc. At the end of the night I felt cold and tired, but I keep coming back for more.

This. And be assured that MMORPG votings are balanced with a player voting / available player pool for each game (game community ratio, call it as you like). Else the 12M subscibers game would be first every year |

I dunno. One of those 12 thousand subs is mine, and I beleive EVE is superior. (But WoW is relaxing to play)

On a whole as an MMO WOW is horrible. I tried it, got to level 8 mage, then I grouped up with some people and I lost them the first time I needed to rest for MP. They then began the "lolnoobusepots" chant that that type of gamer does so often. I think it's the reason I liked FFXI for so long. You actually needed teamwork and strategy in FFXI to kill some of the harder stuff and level up. In WOW it's a free for all. Where atleast in FFXI and DAoC I had a purpose. I was a master weaponsmith in DAoC and would get assloads of gold and plat just for making siege parts in DAoC and my max level was 18 or 19, something like that. In WOW it was totally wrong.
First off, WOW is the reason I think SW:TOR is going to fail. It's basically going to be SW:WOW. Which is a shame because KOTOR and KOTOR2 were such awesome games and ME should of been KOTOR3. Maybe something happened like with GE becoming Perfect Dark instead of GE2.
Second, 99% of F2P games offer 99% of what WOW does and I am a F2P addict. I play lots and lots of them just to maybe find that one that is worth really getting into and honestly, Guild Wars is the only one I will actually log into the most.
Third, WOW is cartoon stupid. Remember that game with Mickey Mouse and the magical kingdom? Fun when I was a kid, Sonic or Mario it isn't though.
Last, WOW has 3 year olds playing. In my short stay in WOW to level 8 and trying to figure out the crafting, which is so simplistic I relate it to DAoC crafting with your hand held, I invited a few people to my personal TS server. Never once did I have a person with their balls dropped join, and I have IPs on record for 203 individual users.
WOW truly is the simple mans, or child, MMO, and to top it all of it doesn't even look that good. Which sucks because I love WC3 and D2. Here's to hoping D3 is void of Blizzards new found fan base. SCHALAC HAS SPOKEN |

Ok Ives played Wow As a mage
THERE IS NO FREAKING WAY TO RUN OUT OF MANA NO MATER HOW MUTCH YOU SPAM MAGIC BASED ATTACKS PRE 20
Seriously at level 10 you regen 20% of your mana PER SECOND, it does no settle down to a serious drain untill level 20, and even then its not realy mutch of a pain.
and seriously dude, what moron does not know you drink the blue juice to keep your mana up in the first place and the red juice to keep health up. and on top of that mana pots are cheep to make in WoW,
Seriously when people in WoW ask if you want to run some random dungeons nowdays, they mean Do you want to Literaly run through dungeons.
Seriously I think the only reason why one group I was in slowed down was because was the one who was actualy looting the mobs then one of them me why arnt you wearing my heirlooms.

I think what eventually kills an MMO is the grind. This is the main reason I stopped leveling my Shaman/Priest (<3 to heal). I admit, the pugs have gotten easier, but when you can 2-3 man a 5 man instance, it's a bit absurd. Even with their new expansion. In my opinion, you can only burn your world to the ground and rebuild all the old content in a pitiful effort to save it (volcano here, river of lava there, couple hundred new quests, rly?). The only thing keeping WoW alive is the fan bois and children. --- DIE |

Your first statement is entirely wrong(well maybe your second). You leveled a character to 8 and think thats it in the game? Same can be said for those who try EvE on trial and never leave NPC corp and quit the game after the trial is up. Now granted I quit WoW once the 1st expansion was released but probably the ONLY thing I liked about it was the teamwork needed for "endgame" raiding. Getting 40 people to raid a dungeon and work together to overcome the boss fights was actually fun as well as the epeen factor for getting server first. However that is about all I liked about the game and from what i've heard they pretty much ruined that aswell.
I still say that WoW is a good game for those who are casual or can only play very limited times. You can log on do a couple quests, join a BG or Arena and do lolwowpvp and then log off. EvE is different you can't really get the same instant gratification that you can with WoW type of MMOs. EvE takes patience and time which isn't a bad thing at all.
As far as F2P I've never really cared for any of them. It just doesn't seem like theres much effort put into them and they just exist in the hopes that some kid got ahold of his mommies credit card and buys a lot of shinnies with it. GW and LOTRO are probably the 2 only decent ones out and both if I remember correctly where sub based until they p much tanked.
Honestly I think EvE won by default. Hate to say it but CCP has done nothing but slap most of their longterm player base in the face recently. But thats just me.

The reasons Eve stands out from the rest are:
- Single shard - No grinding to directly level up characters - Free form PvP that is not restricted - And importantly, when you lose stuff - you lose it. Items you work for (e.g. ships/mods) are valuable because they can be lost/taken from you. Risk vs Reward.
These reasons are for me why Eve stands out from the competition as no other MMO offers the freedom Eve has nor has severe consequences for actions. For me, the ability to lose expensive ships and mods make the game, breath excitement into pvp. Without risk there's little reward and that's what other gaming company's don't get.

And that sums it all since the 1st exp the game went downside and blizzard focused in catter the casuals noobs.
Eve stands out because don't matter how many time you invest into it, you never will be the smartest one out there and the most powerful since anytime someone can kick your ass or outsmart you.
