I hate eve,. from my original incarnation i got hooked in 2003, then it made me play to try and make more isk , to buy my first battleship, and from there it spiralled.
I thought i could control it at first , but i lost one battleship and then another , i had to keep playing to replace them,.. and now over 7 years later im still here,.
Nearly lost my job twice , my GF barely speaks to me as i spend so much time on here and eve keeps sucking me in like some blood devouring vampire or a mistress you just cant deny....
Thats why i love eve and i think ill be here a while longer [url] |

The game's raw feeling. The feeling losing your ship adds to the anxiety of the game.
The AFK skill training does take a long time but you get that sense of connection with your character from where you started to where you are at now. Simply going from lv 1 to lv 85 in WoW doesn't feel the same.
The camaraderie you develop between teammates. Rolling into a system with 500 alliance members getting ready to do battle is a better pvp experience because those battles are ones that actually carry real influence.
The way the large alliance pvp battles influence the landscape. There's a lot of impassioned players who really want to hold onto that place of virtual space. I mean really who wants to carry alarm clock ops in any other game?
I've come off and back on to the game 3 times so there's something about EVE Online that keeps me playing even though I though I don't play that much.

My friends and I believe CCP and Eve is in the negative zone right now.
A character creator that does not allow us to create the interesting characters we had before, and seems very limited on output, coupled with a number of other Eve problems - we believe that CCP has a ways to go before they break even with what the game has offered in playability and interest in the past.
Then, to wait even longer for them to get it to a point at which we feel that the improvements are real and satiable, well, we all may leave the game before that happens.

"Why do you all love Eve?" Well love is too big a word but there's a certain affection, although it's significantly lessened with the new Vherokior look.

I'm bringing this topic back, amidst the Concordoken negativity. And I'm buzzed on SoCo so it seems like a good idea.
Why do I love EVE?
I used to play World of Warcraft where your only threat is a long queue and the chance of some guy deciding not to play his role in whatever recycled dungeon garbage Blizzard had decided to throw into the newest expansion.
Where piles of money just fall into your lap as if you're entitled to it.
But here I am in EVE. Where I can sit around and do nothing but chat with some friends, while chipping away at some asteroids and watching my favorite show, LEXX.
I can jump into a ship and lose that ship canflipping someone I forgot to "check." Or scan down a wormhole and fly in with a 50% chance of being blown to bits.
Or I can buzz back and forth to my planets and collect minerals for trade purposes, or scavenge for rig manufacturing.
And on days that I don't feel like that, I can grab a mission or maybe just wander into nullsec like a noob and see what happens.
I can lead my corporation and work on recruiting people; build that empire the opening video talks about.
Or, on rare occassions, I can kill someone.
I love EVE because it is the life I'll never have, in space.

I got another one from recent experience. You can actually play Eve in your own free time. You cannot do that for many multiplayer online games.
Also the constant patches prove the developers are passionate about fixing and making Eve better. At least the game is not being left to rot. Thank you, Devs and CCP.

I actually really dislike EvE for the most part. Its linear, poorly implemented, full of bugs, logic errors and 'fixes' that are almost as bad as the things it fixed (example: session timers).
The community is immature, elitist, and exploitative of the mechanics to the point the game is primarily patched in response to the community exploiting bugs rather then issues that need to be dealt with.
The developers are biased, especially towards their preferred modes of play, having high profile characters in null sec alliances that raise serious questions regarding impartiality.
The game is full of bots and macro's, lag, imbalanced mechanics and ships and with the recent netcode changes is not even really playable for a lot of people including myself (I cancelled 3 accounts already due to their amateur netcode changes and only resubbed this one for a month to try the incursion update).
The reason I still play EvE is because I found a little niche, where I can ignore 99% of the population and 100% of the gameplay - its call EvE forums.

Nice slow paced game, but with an intensity most fast paced games could never provide.
I can have the relaxation of planning out my moves to some extent, but at the same time you know everything is on the line.
You don't get that with other MMOs.

Tbh i can't name 1 exact reason. I've played this game since beta, sold my account, returned and started from scratch, and just cant friggin leave,,, i am now an acknowledged addict of the game (can't bring myself to sell or repo this acc. so no u can't haz my stuffz) and all i can say is thast imho, EvE has the "thing",,, the "atmosphere",, the mix of components,, that just make it that tad better, make it stand out that li'l bit,, that you either hate it as all he** or HAVE to love it to bits!!
Just my 2-isk...

EVE is an OK game, I find "love" a bit too strong word. It's simply too full of buggy and unfinished things to be truely loving it.

I love eve because it's simply the best game ever made. It doesn't do everything perfectly; but that's ok because it still does everything, unlike almost every other game.
It's got a distinct art style (both it's music and video) and the pvp is THE best pvp in ANY game. It's intense and addicting gameplay and it's awesome.

Originally by: Anubis Xian I actually hate Eve. I hate that it is the best sci fi mmorpg, the closest mmorpg to what I wish all mmorpgs were like, and that the only better games are all single player.
Because Eve sucks, it really does, it just has no real competition.
I love the concept and depth of EVE I love the feeling you get in PvP I love the community and all the people I've met over the years I love CCP ♥ but I completely hate the game mechanics. EVE has undergone plenty of changes since it came out, but at the core is still the same game it always was, except is now completely covered in duct tape from all the patching up of holes over the years. Sure it works, but is it fun?

Excellent character management page. The skill training queue is very well thought of. Today, I managed to train a skill in advance so I didn't have to rush in before a client meeting.

The rush you get from PvP is like no other game I have played. I can only really remember one or two times playing a game like WoW where I felt an adrenaline rush type of feeling. In Eve, almost every PvP fight I have this feeling.
Complexity, as others have stated, is nice too. |
