Edited by: Belid Hagen on 17/01/2011 21:11:11 You first have to prove that EVE-online is in fact in a state of hyperinflation.
in fact, you would even have a hard time proving that "normal" inflation is present - read all the QEN's
Inflation in EVE only happens as a result of new ships, modules & comodities are introduced into the game, or they are transfered to exclusive player control (transition from NPC goods, to player produced).
If you remove those factors from the question of inflation, and you are left with a universal deflation.
TL:DR
stop posting, and get out of my game.

/triplefacepalm First, we don't have a hyperinflation problem. Second, HOARDED ISK is ISK out of circulation, so it will not increase inflation rates. In fact, the more ISK you hoard, a much more likely scenario is that inflation would be lower or even turn into deflation. Last but not least, hands off my friggin' wallet, you pinko commie .
I don't always agree with everything Akita T says but I agree with this statement.
HANDS OFF MY WALLET, YOU PINKO COMMIE
Your tax program would devastate Eve's economy like progressive taxes have always done.
What is it you want to do with all those taxes anyways. The only reason a progressive tax system is started is so you can fund some entitlement program.

Yet another fail troll attempt by masternerdguy. However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs. second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.

Originally by: masternerdguy To solve the hyperinflation problem we need to reduce isk hoarding. Here's how we do it.
At the turn of every year you need to file a tax return claiming all your assets. A set amount will be removed from your wallet.
0m-100m ---- No Tax 100m-300m ---- 20% 300m-800m ---- 40% 800m-1.2b ---- 50% 1.2b-2b ---- 70% 2b+ ---- 85%
This would remove isk from the economy and balance the market. It can be roleplayed to pay for concord.
If you really want to go down the road of taxation CCP would base it on real world taxation:
So your numbers would actually look like this in reality:
0m-100m ---- 85% 100m-300m ---- 70% 300m-800m ---- 50% 800m-1.2b ---- 40% 1.2b-2b ---- 20% 2b+ ---- No Tax
That way looks more real than yours, in RL the rich stay rich and the poor get taxed into poverty.
:P
Argo.
Wow. I didn't think anyone in this thread would post something dumber than the OP. But OP just had a bad idea. You, on the other hand, are economically and politically illiterate.
'Taxed into poverty'? What country do you live in? In the United States and most of Europe, it's the wealthy who are taxed into near-poverty to pay for welfare, food stamps, public schools, medical services, and so forth, for 'the poor'. Not to mention roads, police departments, fire departments, and all the other benefits of civilization that the wealthiest one percent, who provide some seventy percent of total tax revenue, pay for.
/Tea Party rant off
Back to the topic: OP, you do realize that players are already taxed, right? Bounties are taxed by your corporation; every market transaction involves sales tax; there are contract fees and so forth. Besides, it's too easy to cheat on a once-yearly measurement of liquid ISK.
Where is this bogus hyperinflation meme coming from anyway?

Is this an epic troll or serious?
Either way, I propose 'TAX DISCS' for all ships.
If you own a ship (its one of your listed assets), assembled or not, you have to pay a tax to have it.
Why? Because I have a ******ed number of ships in this game and I have no reason for a lean inventory. None whatsoever.
Am I shooting myself in the foot? I'd sooner call it 'putting my isk where my mouth is', but I know I'm not the only one sat on a load of ships and no reason to sell them or undock in them and go pvp.
Oh and 'No tax on ships out in space'. Got to think of the professions where people go probing and discover someone's cache of ships hidden in a safe for tax evasion ;0
That's semi troll as I was unsure about the OPs motives.
Hoppit!

Hell no.are you kidding! This isn't wiemar republic dude. "hyperinflation"
It would seem some of you need to take an economics class. Price stability in a one currency controlled environment is relative easy..without "taxes" ... Without another currency to mass jump to......or every eve player suddenly having 20 billion placed into his or her account,...hyperinflation cannot ,and will not occur.
I can understand the fear about bot ratters, But I think it is vastly over blown. Mineral botters will actually drive prices down...not up. Null sec ratters...are usually looking for.supercaps ..which get blown up.
The most that would happen in eve would be an accelerated inflation ... due to a massive amount new isk being added to game . Easily corrected with small adjustments.
I think you are trying to add socialist ideals " well placed as they may be " .....into a frikkin space game built on the premise of cold hearted capitalism....
Now please pod yourself back to namby pamby land ,ya pinko commie. |
