So I wanted to come out to Solitude to see what it's like. My god, it's dead.I mean a Langour Drive Disruptor costs $2M here which would typically go for 50k elsehwere. It all starts with having minerals and there are barely any minerals to be bought on the market. Minerals are like the backbone of a viable market presence but if that's not here, then nothing else can be done.
As someone with some trading and market experience, I have to even wonder how anyone can make money out here, if at all?

Solitude is called 'Solitude' for a reason. My suggestion would be to make something and ship it to Empire or Syndicate. Or just go somewhere else - there's no viable market for many many reasons.

Yeah, I did consider the idea of buying from empire and ship it all out here via a JF. More as just an experiement and learning process. But that's hefty investment given where I am in the game right now.
There are many many reasons and most of them are dependent on the other. It's all just one ecosystem. For example, having more mission agents here might help attract more traders and builders. But traders/builders need more minerals. Minerals need to be mined so we need miners. Solitude is an island surrounded by nullsec which is probably the biggest obstacle to anybody wanting to establish a viable presence here. Logistics.

Bullcrap I made lots in solitude just screwing around, t2 items hauled in cov ops hauler.
There is a lot of lv 4 mission agents, and a lot of spillover pvp/exploration from surrounding losec and nulsec.
Try stacks of common high volume T2 items say 20 each to start and drop them in Boystin, undercut everyone while still taking hefty margins, and watch the sales flow in.
Every loosing a ship in syndicate hits boystin first if they can fit up they wont go any further
Try to take a good range of pvp/pve fitting essentials ppl want to fit their ship in one station and they will remember and b back for more.
There are hella miners but I will tip you that mining equipment/hulks etc where flatline for me, I eventually unloaded every hulk I got on buys for hardly more than I paid for it. Same for most ships theres a few major alliances like black thorne that crank them out and will undercut you forever(dont EVER get stuck with a orca).

Confirming that we are indeed one of the larger industrial corps in Solitude.
Now if someone could get those wardecs off our back, we can go back to stripping systems of ore again and there will be minerals on the market again. And yes, Boystin is the place to be if you want a new ship and modules. It's where I usually sell my stuff, and yes, quite large margins.
On a side note, if you have a JF you're willing to use to come out here, contact me, I've got some nice loads that need shipping to Jita, I think I can fill a JF or two. ( and make a dent in parts of the market in Jita when it arrives >:) )
