Like officially hear...
I see dev repiles int he thread but as yet no confirmation that we are good to go and try dl'ing again.
Yes, it is. I downloaded the client more than 2 hours ago, and I've been playing ever since. Only problem I have is my character creator is buggy. But I can play just fine.
thanks for the reply. SO much for NAvigator "keeping us informed". Very bad form I think.

patch my ass. I just downloaded the update and the ****ing install failed, probably on the the included language files that cover every language known to man.

I used the manual download due to hating how the client handles downloads.

Edited by: KIllerFimble on 18/01/2011 19:53:15 i downloaded the update which initially worked ok. Logged out to grab some food and when i try and load the game again it crashes after showing the initial incursion screen. Doesn't make it as far as the login screen so cant get into the game now.
Anyone else having these problems?

Sorry about the confusion, the news item and OP have been updated to reflect the current status. The initial announcement was made here, the bad patch was replaced before TQ was taken out of VIP mode.
There was a lot of stuff going on, I just got home and had time to read through some of the stuff again and I agree that the messaging could have been better. At this point all I can do is apologize. ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance

Hi,
I have the same problem. The patch was dowloading at 25KB/sec and then I switched to Chribba torrent and got it at 230KB/sec. So life was beautiful... or that I thought.
When I applied the patch, it said my client is corrupted and I have to reinstall the full client. And now I'm back to CCP's sluggish 25KB/sec.
Does anyone know a torrent for the full client???
Thanks,
Avui

One of the test Mac's at CCP had this black screen crash but we were unable to reproduce the issue, in short it didn't happen when starting the client again. I am assuming (which is not a good idea) that this is not true for the three posters reporting this issue here but it would be good to get some confirmation.
We are still investigating what could be causing it. ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance

Edited by: Thunderf00t on 18/01/2011 20:29:57 Edited by: Thunderf00t on 18/01/2011 20:29:16 Time for some performance feedback, after some *****ing
1. If you use char editor and you have set your gfx settings on low ( as I did to get better performance ), if the char editor is kinda sloppy and has terrible performance: crank your textures, shaders and everything on MAX it did miracles to me, the char editor is much more responsive. 2. I have MBP early 2008, and after patching the CPU & GPU are STONE cold, and I mean STONE COLD. Don't know what changed in this patch, but with the previous version I could get 80 degrees on the GPU easy, and the fans would go mental. Now the temps are a lot lower and the laptop is a lot cooler overall. 3. Doing Alt+TAB to check other apps is much better, more responsive and feel "lighter".
Quick question, noticed on the splash screen that there is in the down right corner a small text "Carbon Based", maybe some of the staff can clarify what does this mean exactly.

HI,
just to clarify for me please Gangleri - are you saying that the above problems are caused by having downloaded a corrupted file and if i download the patch again everything is gonna be Roses and smiley happy faces or are we still in "Working to fix it " mode and don't download the patch just yet?
Don't want to waste time (and money cos i have a download limit ) on downloading a broken file again.
Thanks

Just an FYI.. the patch has been working since 4+ hours ago.. If you waited until they announced it, I assume it would work. I used the manual download, got over 1.2 MB/s speed, and flawless run.

Black screen/3D After patch I pumped up all graphic settings I could to maximum. Then I logged in, selected an alt and chose the Character Creation. (man, it was sluggish :P )
Anyway, creation done, avatar chosen and saved and I am in station... and UI is there, but all 3D is black. I click and drag (like I want to rotate my ship) and the UI lighting changes. So I try to un-dock, still black 3D. Dock back to station, still black 3D.
ESC chose to disable HDR, clicked apply, 3D is back! :D

Antialias This is gone, but according to a dev log the antialias was taken away from "leopard", no mention of "snow leopard". Will antialias be enabled again? Is there an option in cider settings to "force enable" the antialias option ? --------

I'm still showing another 2 hours on the download using the manual patch. I have a bit of experience with um... shall we say.. downloading large embarrassing files of a graphic nature, so I know my connection is faster than this.

(Repost from another thread, should have posted here, sorry)
This one is, I admit, hard to believe. But I just spent the last hour or two nailed down the parameters before bugreporting it.
Let's say you want to run multiple mac clients. So you follow the instructions on http://support.eveonline.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=380
If, however, you rename the Eve Online Application to a name that is 16 characters in length or more (not counting the .app) ***AND*** you change the preferences folder setting in the info.plist file (as instructed) to a name that is 15 characters in length ***AND*** the additional characters you add include both a dash (-) and alphabetic characters , Cider will crash with "Unhandled Exception 0x80000001 at address 0x7005240f"
In my case, I had a copy of the app named "EVE Online-Trebor.app" with prefsFolderName "EVE Online-Trebor".
I kid you not, changing the name of the app to "EVE Online-T.app" makes it run again.
This is a change in behavior from the previous TQ client, btw.
----
Performance notes: Character creator was very sluggish with full settings (low quality *and* simulated hair disabled, but everything else turned on) on my recent MBP using the good graphics chip. 1 FPS or less. This made it very difficult to drag things and see the results. The avatar fidgeting like he had ADHD didn't help. There really should be an option to make the poor toon stand still, and for the creator to go into some low-quality higher-fps mode when you're actually dragging stuff.
This was particularly an issue during posing.
If someone could post the best graphics settings which still get you a high-quality render (so you know what the final product will look like), that would be great.

I was only on the game for about 2 or 3 minutes so trying to think what i might have done to break it. The only thing i tried to do was play the game in "windowed" mode. I was docked in station, opened the setting screen (ESC) and changed to windowed mode - hit reset graphics and then apply. Game appeared to go into windowed mode. Back into setup screen switched back to full screen and apply. Game seemed to stay in "window" mode. I did nothing else - no undock - no market access - no item access - nothing. I just quit the game. " All of this only took a few minutes and i didn't go near the char creation tool ( -Selected "no" when prompted)
i started my download of the update at 16:00 uk time.

Here's how I got my client updated:
== snip == # manually enter EVE client cache directory cd ~ cd "./Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/cache" # fetch the patch file curl --remote-name -C -v http://cdn1.eveonline.com/mac/evepremiumpatch214371-221279-mac.tgz # check md5 md5 evepremiumpatch214371-221279-mac.tgz MD5 (evepremiumpatch214371-221279-mac.tgz) = eb197d11bbc323c63ecae6471f482e68 # start client to have it start patching == snip ==

Worked when I first downloaded the patch, then I logged off and tried to log back in later only to have it crash before the log in screen. So I then just deleted and downloaded the whole client again. Now it pops up this message.
Exception raised Unhandled exception 0x80000001 at address 0x7005240f.
So it's not looking to promising for me to be able to play any eve tonight, shocker there.

Hi Folks,
I've been able to update my clients using the downloadable patcher. The clients open fine after that. Of course, doing so creates a new preference folder. So I open the .app package and edit the preference file to point it in the direction of my personalized preference folder.
When I try to restart the client, it returns the following error.
Exception raised Unhandled exception 0x80000001 at address 0x7005240f. Do you wish to debug it?
So I then run the repair tool. Here's the information I receive.

When I restart the client, it creates a new preference folder, opens the client, presents me with the EULA, etc. Seems to be working fine.
Yet when I edit my preference file again, the same thing happens. And this happens on all four installations of the client.
I'm not a technical person, and I have no idea what this means. Might someone help me understand what is going on and what to do about it?
Thanks much! Delilah

Apparently AA is not available to either Leopard or Snow Leopard.
I have Snow Leopard and in the "anti-aliasing" drop down, I have only one option... "Disabled". --------

Ever since the update, i have been having trouble with the browser. I needed a few sites to be trusted before i could use them. They were and still are trusted. I have removed them and re added them to my trusted list. I can still not use the sites functions, one being a quene and was wondering if his is due to the update. The site worked perfectly fine pre update.

Just a quick update on the AA situation, the Mac client doesn't support depth effects and AA simultaneously. It is unsure at this time whether this can be solved or what the timeline for such an update would be. If you want to enable AA just disable the depth effects option first. ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance
