This is a "Screw people that are playing now" move, in that we don't get a bloody option to change it when new stuff does come out. Or when they fix the problems, and the lack of decent movement in the face.
Very unhappy with the char creator. Lots of problems, and those of us unhappy with it, will likely get stuck with poor characters. ------------------------

Edited by: ACESsiggy on 19/01/2011 01:39:20 Yeah. CCP just updated EVE to have one of, if not, the best character creator in any MMO/game, and people still ***** about it.
Wow.... I hope you're joking.

Is there anyone out there that is remotely happy with this? Or impressed? Or vaguely interested in results. While I also subscribe to the belief that more content is necessary I can't help but embrace the change and the progress towards a new and interesting EVE. I know I know, content, diversity, etc...
I'm just interested to see how many people that complain about this end up making a goofy portrait.

Yes I have to admit that I was hugely disappointed by the lack of diversity. The Minmatar have practically one outfit - and there's no piercings or tattoos either. They are blatantly going down the micro-transaction route here, which will be the death knell of Eve's reputation and the beginning of the end for the game.

I miss the face paint and my forehead implant. Honestly, there is very little of the fantastic or Sci-fi in the new characters. They are higher res.. lower imagination.
I'll probably just drag my feet and not create anything until I am forced to.

Or give finally up on CCP/EVE? Even chances, I'd say.
Not like people did not tell them about the shortcomings during the test phase, but hey, what do you expect from a field test for their WoD game? Dropped like a bombshell upon us... Maybe they'll fix/revamp it in... ~18 months~

Edited by: Elena Severina on 19/01/2011 02:13:10 Yeah, I really don't understand why everyone is complaining. And I seriously doubt CCP is gonna start the microtransaction crap which is so prevalent in the gaming industry today. They already release expansions for free with a subscription and if they really wanted to do microtransactions they'd charge for the expansions.

I dunno, im totally fine with micro-transactions anymore. as long as they don't imbalance gameplay im fine with it. makes the company more money and people get something to spend money on.

I doubt they will charge for the expansions because they have a high subscription charge compared to other MMOs. But I would not rule out MTs just yet.

CCP have unfairly limited character customisation options by race. Some races cannot get customisation options such as hair and clothes that other races can.
There is nothing wrong in this thread except the people supporting this decision on CCP's part. This is an objective fact. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

I would love to have got into a long skirt or robe which would have suited my character's back history.
The only thing now is that I need to get the picture reset as I was having no end of issues with the editor and now I look like that woman from 'Ello 'Ello*

As stated before, I am impressed by the visual aspect and the sculpting tools. But fancy graphics can't replace features like diversity and customization if you ask me. You can say a lot about the new creator, but I think that it creates the best looking (in terms of graphics) and most anatomically correct models I have so far seen in any game.

The problem is of course that when we first made our characters, we had all races and bloodlines to choose from. Yes the diversity in this thread is ok, but now when you have to remake your portrait and your hair and skin colours are limited and you look extremely asian, like the Vherokiors.
Personally I'd love it if we can fully remake our characters, and not be limited to the bloodline we picked years ago. It's frustrating! ________________* - If you're in favour of a bloodline change please vote in the Assembly Hall in this thread - |

Edited by: clockwatch on 21/01/2011 06:50:44 More subtlety is fine, but the new character creator is sterile and lacks much personality. It does, in a sense make people try a little harder to make their character unique instead of "oh, I want the guy with the dreadlocks!", but meh, now everyone just looks like they are part of Avenge Sevenfold .

I just wonder why they not only changed some bloodlines beyond recognition but also removed options some bloodlines already had:
1) no more blonde Civire 1) no more black haired Sebiestor 1) no more pale Khanid 1) no more blonde Deitis
All these options are still in the game but they have been removed form the races that always had them to races that never had them - why do we suddenly have blonde Vherokior? ________________* - If you're in favour of a bloodline change please vote in the Assembly Hall in this thread - |

New CC is a massive improvement on the old one. How anyone can claim the portraits are all too similar is beyond me - apart from the fact that bald with aviators seems to be the hieght of capsuleers fashion.
A few more options - tatoos, clothing etc would be nice and CCP have promised these in for the future.
As for Microtransactions, if CCP limit them to cosmetic/fashion items then I for one don't care if they are introduced - no game play advantage/no problem.

So vote for a bloodline change in the Assembly Hall so you can have at least thrice as many options!

Youve got a Point ond that.
Since there are no more Learning skills and also all races eger bloodlines now have the same attributes at start up, it makes actually no more sense to let anyone stuck on the chosen bloodline they had before incarna came out.
What i also wanted to add is, what ive seen so far, that now every race can wear sunglases? Before that only Brutors coud wear those now everyone can. So for example the minmatar brutor bloodline now has lost one of there unique styles.
To answer on the question why we all are forced to the "same" clothing style is, what i think, when the expansion comes out with Station walking ( what we can say will be coming out one day ) then clothing or hairstyle does not matter anymore. What ive seen so far anyone can change clothing and hairstyle for example, also there will be a possibility to buy new cloth on the market or as a reward from missions.
So its only limited for the portrait so far, but i can imagine that everyone agrees since your personal identity in a station can be changed everytime, you dont care about your portraits anyway^^

Edited by: Count Podaroid on 23/01/2011 01:18:23 All right. You guys made the point: there is diversity. After seeing Captain Jew and a few others, it is outright silly to say there is no diversity. I agree with this. But I still think there are some obvious choices lacking. Why the lack of colors? If I want something as simple as red hair on one character, I have to be satisfied with some light brownish nuance that just simply isn't red. Same with eyes. Same with clothes. I just think it would be fun with more choices, that's all. And it would cost CCP practically no work at all to add a bunch of colors and other options.

Clearly there's enormous diversity possible in terms of physiognomy and facial expression, and that's a good basis for the future - but as many are now pointing out, very little of the art design so far says "weird, futuristic s-f" , like the old system did (in spades).
It would be nice to get some kind of assurance from CCP that they're aware of this, and some sense that that imaginative whackiness will return to the CC.
If we have to pay a little extra for it, fine, I don't mind, but it's got to return. *****

The diversity in camera positions and poses are *much better*. I assume the diversity in hairstyle (don't really care there) and clothing will come with micro transactions. Leaving out the tattoos and masks has hit the Minmatar very hard, but hopefully that will be remedied.
Biggest disappointment for me has been how *normal* the physiology is across all races/lines. The original eve chars didn't look quite human, and with rare exceptions we all could walk down the street now and no one would raise an eyebrow.
That said, I'm pretty happy with my "Rembrandt meets Grandmaster" portrait.
