Troll: Complete :).
All im saying is that i have had lots of problems with ATI cards in the past, and nvidia just seems to work for me.
Plus, can any ATI user say they wouldnt stab the guy who made CCC until he was a fine mist of blood and bone :P.

Mmm, blood and bone mists...
I actually went and coded a workaround (a simple SDL program that switches resolutions to 800x600 and back) before I realized that there was a driver update that fixed this issue. :P

At each new version of CCC+drivers you can be sure you'll get tons of problems bugs coloured artifacts etc etc etc. ATi drivers and people making them is like Gallente stuff and dev's working on it: they should replace them by some professionals. ________________________________________________

Originally by: Robin Silver Easier solution just do Ctrl+Alt+del and then hit escape.
Aha! Yes this works a treat. So simple too. Guess I'll use this until a stable update is issued.

Another quickish temporary fix is once tabbed out or you have closed the eve client, open a new one and close it straight away. Although I am definitely adopting the Ctrl-Alt-Delete, escape technique for now.

I managed to fix mine by running EvE in "Admin mode" as well as "disabling Desktop compsition" and "disabling visual themes" options from the compatability tab.
If It ever happened my solution was to bring up anything that would trigger the UAC dialog box ( Starting a new game or chaning my account password ) and just selecting "No" However 11.2 CCC drivers fixed it for me, even rolling back to 10.10e drivers seem to have still fixed it.
Hope it helps someone, Good luck Pilots o>

I have been here for 7 years now, and I have used ATI cards all the way without any problem at all. There is no problem with the cards, the problem is ppl trying to do something they should stay far away from. Like installing OS and drivers.
Running EVE on ATI and Windows7 64bit works like a charm, and if you can't make it work you really should find something else to do. Ludo or Bingo might work.

Unfortunately, "oomph" is the sound one makes when kicked repeatedly in the ribs.

Is there a chance CCP will fix this bug in the future?
You can install the latest catalyst package, but as long as you don't have the latest hardware that doesn't change the driver. For people like me who have older DX9/10-hardware this workaround won't fix anything.

Was there a problem with ati and eve? news to me, and I'm running a ye'olde' x1950Pro DX9 card.
I also have a "legacy" video driver that most likely didn't get the latest 'bling' features...

Edited by: Grasor on 14/04/2011 00:59:48 So uh, if you alt-tab and the screen dims, you can just CTRL-ALT-DEL or right click the Taskbar and select Task manager (Win7) and the dim goes away. Not great, but easy peezy workaround.
I'm having an issue since the 1.4 Patch where the client takes forever to load to the login screen. The splash screen comes up immediately, but then it can be 2-3 mins before the login screen appears. Prior to patch, lickity split, post patch, no so much.
Alienware M15x Intel i7 Q720 ATI Radeon 5850 HD (Driver: 8.7630) 8 GB RAM Plenty o' HD Space Win 7 x64 Professional SP1
Again, prior to patch, no problem, right after installing patch, problem. Can I make it any clearer? The patch caused this. K thx!
