Yes, it's now official. All characters look like they would be from 2011. All the clothes, all the boots, everything. Nothing futuristic. They look like the **** that comes out from fashion houses nowadays.
Bad CCP, really bad...
The actual carbon human modeling is great, but the clothes and lack of any deco we had is simply too much.
EVE is gone.

The whole backstory is pointless when characters look like the same that you look out from your window in present time...in a scifi game..

honestly, scifi consistently gets ******ed the second they try too hard to make things look "futuristic", especially clothes and simple items. you want good scifi? look at something like Firefly.

I dnno about you, but I don't see many real-world pants with no pockets and hard lines all over, or sneaks with no apparent method of securing them to the feet.
That being said, the palette could certainly use some work...

Likewise BSG, the clothing was contemporary.

Giving looks or able to custom our pilots isn't taking any sci-fi out of EVE , you still blow ships , lose ISK , QQ , tears ,Ragequits.
either way I don't really see what hurts to have clothing in a sci-fi cannon or not.
Edit: I saw the post about everyone looking the same and here what I got to say: I kind agree on this the character creation still is limited .

What's wrong with that? Fashion seems to go in a cycle, guess there's only so much people can design that's actually functional without being just plain wacky.
So how many people do you know that have 4 holes down the back of their spine which they use to plug themselves into their pods. Sounds like sci-fi to me.

It's like making a game about ww2 and then suddenly changing the way soldiers look like the ones from middle ages.
But guess modern eve community is too WoW and [insert trend of the hour here] infested and they don't know anything about the backstory or don't care it at all.
Too much gays around here too nowadays, and it sure does show from todays threads in GD.

you're just a closed-minded fool with an unbelievably shallow sense of what scifi is, is all. can i has your stuff when you rage?
modern clothing tends to be practical. the clothing in EVE tends to follow that vein, with a slight twist. its fine. what do you want, transparent frilly bubbles covered in neon lights? it would look ******ed. please, name one example from science fiction that you'd rather look like.

A few thousand years ago, Manly Men were wearing robes and togas. Who knows what we'll be wearing a few thousand years from now.

Problem is, that we used to have such futuristic options. No one is forced to wear a silly looking futuristic gear or clothing, but it would be nice to have those as an option. As an added bonus, I would like to have coloring options that are at least as varied as I have access to in the local store now.

This is step 1.
Next step is likly the introduction of "vanity" stuff for sale or such.
Also, did you forget the spaceships? You know? What you do 99% of the time in EVE? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fashion goes retro all the time, and maybe our offshoot humans that had to re-evolve over 10k years forgetting our origins thinks this style is new and refreshing.

I would like to see the Gallente get their Fifth Element clothing routes again, but really, what we have now is very ambiguous, from robes to biker jackets.

Yes, the quote from you has nothing to do with what I'm about to write, but I just felt like it needed special attention. Too much gays, people.
Anyway, your definition of sci-fi =\= everyone's definition of sci-fi. CCP created the world, they can do whatever the hell they want with it. We just live in it.
The Matrix is sci-fi, and in the future their clothing is all rags and simple clothing. Why? It fits with the story.
Neuromancer is sci-fi, and from Gibson's long winded descriptions, clothing is just exaggerated variations of 80s and 90s fashion.
I think the lot of you that are complaining just look for reasons to be upset because your life is otherwise empty or something. Too much gays, indeed sir!

Gotta agree really, an expansion should add stuff to the game not take stuff away...
We all chose the baggy robes, tattoos and face accessories and lived with them for years, its wrong that they're just suddenly gone like not having the same character anymore.
Further the new character creator is not user friendly, its fiddly to use. More colour options would be nice too with the clothing designs...

Would have been better to have had more ethnic styles. and let people choose the colour after, so that one person could have coat 3 in green, the next guy has coat 3 in blue.

QFT.
Star Trek/Wars have convinced their nerdy fans that in the future everyone will wear either pajamas or spandex. Welcome to clothing with pockets.
