Funny you should say that, considering that the OP, after a suicide gank decides to aggravate the victim.
It's unbelievable how some of you accuse the victim of not being able to see this as a game while at the same time condoning and even congratulating the (out-of-game) taunting and ridiculing of a player. There is absolutely nothing to be gained from further taunting other than aggravation and "tears", which are wholely out-of-game experiences.
If the OP would have ganked the victim and left it at that, then good play on tactics. But no. He resorts to childish taunting to get him to lash out. It's like some of you aren't out of kindergarten yet.

I just re-read everything again, and as far as I can tell from Darius' account all the communication took place in game.
What is your definition of out-of-game? |

Here ya go:
Originally by: Darius III So while we had spare time, I told one of our guys to troll the victim of the above gank.
Originally by: Darius III The brick member trolled him
Originally by: Darius III So the jig is up and one of our members starts trolling harder...
Originally by: Darius III Our guy Immediately reply's: f your that ****y i look forward so seeing you soon lol
Originally by: Darius III At this point we are lolling
Originally by: Darius III Our guy prods harder and gets the gold we were hoping for
I also consider posting chatlogs to further ridicule him on the forums as an out-of-game action.
What the OP did is pretty classless. So coming to the forums to trash the victim while he himself behaves childishly is hypocritical, to say the least.

Actually, no. What I would suggest is you don't wear your monocles and top hats either for the victim or the OP. But meh, you won't get it. I don't expect you to, really :).

Well Matrix, I guess your definition of whats part of the game and what isn't part of the game is different than these players. I personally consider the forums as part of the Eve experience and thus, part of the game.
Trolling and griefing is a part of almost every MMO. This is merely how some players enjoy themselves. If being ridiculed socially isn't something the victim can deal with, they shouldn't bother playing a social game. ESPECIALLY Eve online - I mean all the press around this game leads you to believe its a cuthroat universe full of pricks ready to screw you over. Darius' antics are hardly the worst thing that could happen (No offense D) |

No. It's not my definition. If you use Eve as a tool to provoke negative reactions from players because it jiggles your balls that's pretty much an out-of-game action. You can sugar-coat it all you want and say that trying to get people ****ed off is in-game, but it isn't.
Quote: Trolling and griefing is a part of almost every MMO.
It may be part of some people's agenda, but it is against the rules (yes, even Eve). That players do it and it isn't enforced is a different story. But don't get it confused.
Quote: This is merely how some players enjoy themselves.
Yes, this I know. What I find amusing is that getting people ****ed off is lolfunny, but once you provoke that reaction from someone you take off your "douche" hat and put on the "holy-than-thou" hat to state how immature and socially inept your victim is.
Quote: If being ridiculed socially isn't something the victim can deal with, they shouldn't bother playing a social game.
Acting like a douche, provoking negative reactions, and trolling someone is hardly a social behavior.

I know. I know that there are pricks in Eve. Lots of 'em. That's not my point. My point is that coming to the forums accusing someone of idiocy after you yourself engaging heavily in it is highly hypocritical. I'm pointing out this hypocrisy. And honestly, I don't expect many here (in C&P) to see it. Or rather, I expect it to be ignored and even slipped by. But I'll point it out anyway.
Being a douche to provoke someone to act like a douche doesn't mean the provoker is no longer a douche. He's actually the bigger douche in my book.

+1. Desperately griefing like this, for no apparent ingame gain, is rather sad.

I totally disagree. If you arent getting real life death threats while playing eve, you just arent doing it right.
OP just needs to learn to write shorter posts. Signature removed for evading the profanity filter and trolling. Zymurgist |

Matrix, it's pretty simple really. You have tools to your disposal. If player A harrass you, you block him. If he starts harrass you on an alt, or ask a friend to do it, you block them.
At the point where they keep going around the blocks by using excessive amount of alts/friends to harrass someone, then you can petition it as a) there's a limited block list and b) common sense apply.
Either way, there's perfect tools available ingame, so plain and frank - you're wrong. There's no excessive griefing to keep stalking a player and mock him to aggravate him. In fact, I know many success pvpers who mastered that in-fighting to make your hostiles react in stupid ways. It works. Smacking, well played and not the text flood, can be a powerful tool.
And the point is still, that you can ignore these 'annoyances', by blocking. So in effect, it already works as you want it to. When players go around game mechanics to harrass someone, you can petition it. But you failed to remember the block function. That's where GM's would tell you to start off.
And OMGWTF walloftextMisanth. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

That's all fine and dandy. But don't act all high and mighty when the carebear lashes out. Don't claim that he can't tell the difference between real life and game when you yourself can't either.

Hmm.
Cool story. I do feel sorry for people who allow themselves to get riled up like this.
However it does raise some questions such as, just because some one is easy to annoy, does it give you a right to annoy them. Its akin to tipping someone out of a wheel chair to laugh at them trying to get themselves back into it.
Ok, its no where near as harsh or disturbing as that but I do question peoples motivation.
Personally I couldn't do that to someone.
