Ok so im not asking for peoples secret technique of making a billion overnight. What I am looking for is a nice guide or blog or something which covers eve's trading mechanics and basic strategies for trading. Im looking to stop mission running for a while and trading seemed like an interesting alternative.

You're best bet will be to go hunt down some of the blogs and guides by searching on google, there are plenty out there, or visit the Market Discussion thread and see what you can pick up there. The real trick is just to read posts in their for a while and start to spot the 'market manipulation' threads that try to cause the herd to stampede in a particular direction by making claims that something will rise or drop in price in the near future.
I've been spending some time reading and researching and checking markets here and there in game, it's not something you can easily be told, more something you pick up from experience and knowing whether something you're reading is valid or scare mongering or just blatant lies.

Yeah ... it's really just a lot of thought about finding a need and filling it.
One thing you can do - is to put alts in different parts of space - it helps if they're on different accounts so you can see them all at the same time - then going through the market and seeing what is selling high one place and low another.
