Edited by: Zuper Zpy on 23/01/2011 13:03:47 All the resources and time spent on character creation would have been better employed writing a programme to allow us to add a few colours or doodads to our ships. There was nothing wrong with the portraits as they stood. The thousands of posts are testiment to that. However if the CCP team had developed a simple ingame ship customiser then I believe there would have been nothing but praise. They could have even charged for the paintjob depending on its difficulty, number of colours etc. Does anyone else agree? |

Thing is the character creator is the first step towards Incarna, so fully realised 3D models of characters will eventually be progressed to fully animated characters that are capable of walking around the station environment, whenever they release Incarna that is. Paint jobs on ships is not leading towards a major expansion that people have been talking about for the past few years. |

i agree to this, the harsh ruggedness of the old characters went with the harsh ruggedness of eve,.. this character creation portrait crap would have been much cooler applied to ships, and made fleets looks way more awesome. could have been a good isk sink to, charge set amounts of isk for each size of ship and for multiple layers of paint n stuff.
Still misses scruffy rugged hungover bum portrait |

So we all have another 2 hour download to look forwards to, just so we can waste time not playing eve or earning ISK. I dont need to walk in stations. I'm a pilot. I would like to walk around my CNR tho. Ever wondered how ships that size only ever have a crew of 1? |

Look at the whines about the new CC:
"To little clothes" "Not enough make-up" (***gots) "Not little hair choices" "My bloodline looks gay" "Not big enough *******"
Now multiply it by 9000 for customizing ships.
Besides I don't care for pink spaceship with a terribad paintjob. |

I don't think that customising ships would have caused problems. It would have been an addition not a change. That's what people are moaning about, the fact that the change did not allow them to recreate their toon to even a close resemblance of its former self.. |

I'm not that interested in walking around stations either really. One thing that doesn't seem to get asked though when people talk about customising ship skins, especially when fees are involved, is how many would actually use such an option? Quite a few pilots wouldn't spend their ISKies since their ship isn't likely to last that long. It may be useful to take a look at who this would be aimed at since if you're paying for the custom skin it would count as an investment in the ship itself, similar to rigs. The amount charged for the skin would affect who was willing to put something on their ship that may not last that long. If it was cheap enough, or even free, then more people may give it a go since it's no big deal if and when the ship is lost. |

I bought a brand new Noctis in Jita and I know for sure someone bumped into me as I undocked. I can even see some of the dents when I'm docked in station. I just want a facility where I can get it resprayed for a small fee.

So, if you added a ship customisation option people could the moan that they couldn't recreate their ship to even a close resemblance of its former self instead ...

See post 12 in the link below.
This basic idea comes up about one very 2 weeks in the features and ideas forum, despite it being sticked in the commonly proposed idea's thread.

Frigates have only the pilot, cruisers have a few hundred crew members, battleships around six to eight thousand and capitals are flying cities.
Please feel free to read our lovely chronicles for proof. |
