I noticed that certain grav sites have a cloud around them that puts out some damage. This would be perfect to thwart macro mining.
1.Put the could around belts. You now need a small tank. 2. set the belt rats with neuting like sleepers. 3. Watch the fun.
With the rats neuting you would have to release drones and set to aggressive. this would of course turn you into instant gankbait. If you use mining drones you die to the rats.
Seems simple and easily implemented.

It will work for a day or so and then the marco's will warp out as soon as the sleeper equivalent rats appear on the overview, or they will code the bots to only attacked a predefined list of targets to stop players using the drones to get bots concorded.
In the pre snowball days, some of the bots used to launch drones when they were attacked. This changed when people found you could use snow balls to trigger the response and get them to Concord themselves.
They are more then capable to apply an overview filter to show only NPC's and target them, then after a suitable delay for the lock instruct the drones to attack their target. The whole thing can be triggered by the damage notification, they can even recall the drones once the NPC's are no longer on the overview, Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

I think incursions will do just that.

I think it will have 0 effect. Those bots are better at eve then 80% of the real player base.

Second, wouldn't work, the complexity of those bots is truly amazing. They can be programmed to only defend themselves from these special belt rats, without setting the drones to aggressive. Or they can warp out when a rat enters the belt, just switch to a different belt. Or they can just fit a passive shield tank, hell, even a passive armor tank that lasts long enough for them to fill a cargohold and warp back to station, drop off and repair, warp back out. Or program another bot to follow them around in a combat or logistics ship!
The problem with these bots is that anything, ANYTHING!, that is repetitive can be done by a player can be done by a bot. The nature of Eve is that every player can't have their own customized live event, no matter how hard you try you are fighting the forces of a programmed computer (rats, gas clouds, etc) with another program. You can one-up the Eve program all you want, a week later a new version of the bot will be released that one-ups that.

There are macro-ratting bots. Wouldn't take much for macro-miners to keep a bodyguard ratting-bot around to kill rats in the mining-bots' belts.
Or to run a logistics bot to RR the mining bots against cloud damage.

But that would mean the another account the macroer needs to pay for.......I guess the features will be in the next version then.

Edited by: Jenny Spitfire on 24/01/2011 22:52:43 To be honest, to solve the issue of macro, ask yourselves, what is the root motivation behind macros and why people macro?
Root motivation behind macros to make money especially in hard times.
Why people macro there is demand for converting real money to ISK.
One of the obvious solution and also something that nobody wants to admit is to get CCP to sell ISK to players directly. If they buy elsewhere and are caught, they lose everything. Go direct. It is safer.
That is just my take. All games have this issue. The issue is money. Sad to say, money does make the world go round. --------- The making of the new Jenny Spitfire |

If you can do something, and you can do it ten times over and over, then a bot can be programmed to do the same thing easier, faster, better, and more efficiently.
The only things that can't be automated are those with nondeterministic input - i.e. those requiring personal interaction. ---
