I'm not happy with CCCp's response, are you?

You expect them to continue supporting hardware that is over 8+ years old? Intel added it on 2001, AMD supported it from 2003. ---- --- ---

As we just passed a new PCU record today, you won't receive much sympathy.
An added bonus is that it's affecting people's botting accounts, so it's a complete win.
Go buy a PC made in the last 5 years. I'm sure you can get one for <$100.

I honestly just post to look at my avatar. That's a pretty smug avatar right there eh?
And leadtime? Hasn't it been a week or so since they posted about it? It's pretty easy to get a new or used PC; I'm sure you could do it in under a day if you stopped posting.

Well done, keeping your computers working that long. Truly a feat.

No I expect them to test, discover problems, and specify versions of 3rd party libraries that don't conflict.
There was no reason for this issue to happen like it did, there was even less reason for the late unplanned dumping of customers based on a dodgy SQL query.
Not an issue of how old a computer is, but an issue of how CCP handled it.

To be fair SSE2 is kind of a standard thats just used because even 3rd parties don't expect 20 year old users.

Thank you Dr. My point exactly.

The silly thing is that the old AMD XP box ran eve better than a pentium 4 box, but the P4 is the supported one. My XP died a few months ago at least, but it was a nice alt box for a scout or miner.

I bet none of their test systems have any non-SSE2 enabled CPUs. CPUs that old are the GPU equivalent to a GeForce 3, or a 9800 pro!! Ancient!
It's a waste of resources to test for hardware that old. If you're running 10 year old hardware, expect that some things to not work (especially a game like Eve that stays relatively on the cutting edge).

Well, I haven't been focused on CCP or their response. I have been focused on how to get the client to run on my archaic PC. It is an interesting argument to the question of Customer service; EvE is after all a client.
CCP is not responsible for your ability to meet the software specifications. You are. I think communicating that the Character creator would need a definitive minimum hardware specification however, is in order.
I started the game in (Safe Mode) and then painstakingly increased the graphic settings once I reached the end of the character building process. Took some doing, and some creative headwork ...

Your avatar made me giggle at first, but now that I look at it more, it actually seems kind of spooky. Would be funny to see it once walking in stations comes about, lol.
