I've read a number of guides and threads regarding what it takes to get a POS set up in high sec, but some of the data seems to be old, and I haven't really followed the changes that have been made over time to how POS's work beyond the fuel change.
I'll preface the questions with this: Please assume, for the sake of simplicity, that I have a 1 player corp, and that player has and *adjusted* standing with Caldari of 5.5, but the unadjusted standing is 4.5.
Do I understand it correctly that my Corp standing with Caldari would be 4.5, thus I would need to increase my unadjusted standings to 5.01* or greater to anchor a POS in a 0.5 system?
If my unadjusted standings are 4.5, how much of a bump can I expect to get out of the data center missoins? Do skills affect the standings increase I would receive from these missions?
Is it worth the grind to get to 6.01?
If you want to use Scientific Networking to be able to store BPO's in a station and do research remotely, does the station need to have the relative science/industry installation, or can it be just any station (as long as it's in the same system as the POS)?
Thanks.
*I've added 0.01 to the standings to compensate for the rounding of numbers that Eve likes to do.

I can't answer all the questions, but...

Correct

Yes, especially if you're trying to stay close to Jita. You're likely to pick a 0.5 system with stations, then realize every moon already has a tower (active or inactive). You'll find one somewhere, but your options open up significantly if you get to 6. If you keep your corp with just the one character, you are still free to setup in your 0.5 system while you pursue 0.6 standings.

Any station will do as long as you have a corporate office at that station. You cannot use your own cargo space in the station to keep blueprints for your tower. Monthly rental fees become important here. This is another reason getting access to a 0.6 system is better... there is less demand for corporate offices at stations. |

The /corp's/ standing with the faction must be equal to 10 times the security level of the system. Skills do not adjust corp standings. Remember the change to corp standings happens only at downtime.
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Data_Centers has the changes from data centers. The percentage gain is the difference between your standing, and 10. (so as you get higher, the actual change becomes smaller)
Worth the grind, if you can't find a suitable 0.5 system.
The station requires no facilities, just a corp office. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator, invention chance calculator, isk/m3 Ore chart-á and other 'useful' utilities. |

* You need roughly a 9% increase from the data center missions. You can also do the L1 Sisters Epic, which definitely grants more than 9% (assuming they haven't changed anything). Your "Social" skill modifies the gain, but the difference is really negligible (if you already have it at 4) for a 0.5 pts difference.
* Grinding to 6+ to enable anchoring in a 0.6 and beyond has certain advantages. You increase the choice for systems and in some cases, 0.7 systems are relatively quiet (i.e. higher chance of free moons) due to the high standings requirement ... just as long it's not next to a busy route.
* Your research can be done remotely at the POS. All you need is a corp office to store all the BPOs. I personally prefer having a mandatory NPC manufacturing facility in the same station for convenience. An Invention facility on the same station would be a nice bonus, however it isn't as critical as Manufacturing.

It is also worthwhile to note that once the main tower is anchored no other modules require that the corp standing be at any level. you may online and offline the tower despite a fallen corp standings. so once the tower(s) are anchored, corp to faction standings are irrelevant. Its good to know (for you not for the forums) if you are planning to expand the corp or your activities. anchoring a tower that you are not going to use yet is not a terrible idea but also not always that useful. as it is not a potential target for people.
Once upon a time, i kept an online medium research tower and a large offline so i could switch if i needed extra slots or labs online. as i was one of two people in the corp with the required standings to anchor towers it meant that to expand i didnt have to kick 90% of my corp every time i needed more slots. (and by extension they needed more slots) after several mining related wardecs i still havent kicked everyone to put the tower back up, but it was very useful while it lasted. Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

You can also buy premade corps for 100-200m with the standings already. If that's a better use of your time is up to you. |
