I joined this game a little over four years ago.
Many things attracted me to it. But the key draw was the overall epic story-telling arc. The idea that a game could live on for years and generate its own culture, history and mythology.
It's this idea that's kept me with the game all this time. It's like watching a very long soap opera and I'd really like to see what happens next.
So, I'm curious if people have an idea of where this is all heading. Has CCP revealed some overarching plan for what the game will be in five years? Or ten?
Will we be walking around planet-side? Will we be terraforming the planets? Will the borders of Empire space move? Will there be a working stock market?
If any of you could point me to a long-term roadmap or master plan for Eve, I'd really love to see it.
The suspense is killing me.

CCPs goal: creating the ultimate sci-fi simulator. If you can think of it, it may be part of Eve one day.

in the lore i heard there is a race/faction that even he Jovians are scared to death of idk what they are but my guess is epic war between the 4 empires, involving players on eve and in dust to fight it out over planets and in space. Attack from the unknown enemy, they attack Jove space, not caring about the other 4 empires. Jove call out for help in exchange for technology, eagerly the 4 empires agree that, at least in jove space, they are allies, to fight the new threat. Jove space becomes highsec incursions turn from sansha to the new enemy, with better loots. the incursions can attack planets, dust players defend them.
stuff happens, everyone kills or be killed and miners mine the night away at the profits from all the ships dieing

So far as I understand it, their long term goal is and has always been to create the ultimate multiplayer science-fiction game to include not just spaceships but everything iconically s-f (avatar combat, ground combat, etc., and judging by how studiously they've avoided anything alien in the lore so far, eventually aliens, but probably really cool and properly s-f aliens - not just television aliens with plastic foreheads, or third-rate Giger ripoffs, but something really spine-chillingly odd and "other"). *****

CCP has stated (and it was the original idea behind Eve) to have the ultimate sci-fi sim.
We already have politics, space combat, markets and industry. We'll soon have space stations, clothes, drinking, and ground combat on individual planets. The plan seems pretty cut and dry to me

Maybe. It could be the "soon" part that I'm struggling with.
I'm wondering if anyone official has proposed a time-line with a long term goal anywhere.
I get the idea that Eve will supposedly one day do all these cool things. I'd like to know if CCP has said which ones first and when.

There is a CCP Masterplan.
Once a masterplan has materialised itself in the form of a living being is there no need to have one on paper. --

GIVE ME BACK MY WIG YOU *****!
Surely your borrowing the same thing.. there can't be TWO of those wigs in space?!
As for original point, I would say CCP take an organic flow to the development with EVE, there is ALOT of player feedback (CSM) which affect what we get and in what order. And as proof EVE is growing still - Incursions!
This game is too dynamic (which is the goal of CCP!) for a master plan, its ALIVE!you don't know what a child is going to look like when it grows up, you can just guess and hope! |
