I recently re-subed my account after a long hiatus from the game to find my learning skills gone and some fancy spendable skill points in their place. For one, I've really enjoyed being able to spend said points on whatever skill I please, although I realize this will not go on forever. FOR THE RECORD, I DO NOT WANT PLEX FOR SP. With that out of the way, I have thought of something a bit different. What is stopping us from racking up these "free" experience points when we aren't training a particular skill? I'm not asking this because I feel that I should not have to pay for my oversight if I don't have a skill lined up, that is my own fault. What I'm getting at, is I really enjoy being able to "buy" skills, although I have still spent the time accumulating the skill points. I personally would like to be able to choose not to train one skill over time, but to accumulate more spendable experience for moments where I think, "hey I could really use a tech II mwd right now."
Just food for thought, I have a feeling I'm not the first to come up with this idea. Sorry if this isn't the proper section.

One problem with this is that your rate of SP accumulation is based upon the attributes related to the skill being trained, if you don't have a skill in the training queue they would have to calculate an average SP amount based on your total attributes + implants. That might work if such an allowance were made.
I admit it was good to have a bundle of SP given back when they removed learning skills but those are probably best left to being one offs. CCP seem to prefer people logging in to set their skills up, even if it's one a week or month for long skills and allowing such forms of passive training would mean players could remove that requirement for some. ------------------------------------------------ Quafe is people! |

right section and yes...been brought up before.
Going away and don't want to miss trains...put in a long one. Got me a vacation soon, 2-3 weeks. that has recon, awu or bs 5 written all over it lol.
Current setup makes char farming a gamble. IF fotm this month is amarr hac pilots...you start to roll one and hope months from now...its still fotm for good resale price.
You have built up points...can roll a fotm char in 5 minutes and sell it. Not even t2 manfucturers have that luxury of gauranteed profit. Hell I have seen markets go to utter crap in the week it took cook an order in the oven. One monday my spreasheets were showing nice profit. next monday...break even pricing.

I kind of like this idea, not everyone has a long skill to train when they go on holidays.
But what I would suggest is not taking the avg of the attributes and calculate around that base to see how much skillpoints someone gets, but just put in a set number that they gain, I would suggest the number of skillpoints you get when main and secondary attribute is 10. This would still be enough of a drawback if you forget to put up the next skill. But would give people with long holidays and no long skills still something. ---------------------------------- None of yet! |

hmmm - I see the point about character farming - and I understand it. I also understand the point about going on holiday. So - get a petition class for this? A petition that says - "I'm going on holiday tomorrow (for 3 weeks), and the longest I can cook my skills for is 3d 20h 9m 43s - when these skills are done training - please give me skill points as if I were training a skill in which I had attributes of 10 and 10" CCP could check the maximum length of time you could rig your queue for, and then respond with suggestions, or say, "yup, but you will use 17d 3h 50m 17s of free queue time, and will then have 10d 20h 3m 43s of free queue to use before your year (based on when you started playing) resets." Note the use of the word RESETS - so character farmers couldn't use this to adapt, oh, and just for reference - the numbers at up to 28d.
that's my tuppence worth of imagination...
