Hello citizens,
Looking for information on pirate corps/alliance that operate in low-sec, and do on occasion do a 0.0 roam but mainly the low sec stuff.
As i rolled thew the forum i did not see many pirate organisations recruiting.
So which pirate corps are active? Which pirate corp have a "good rep"? Which pirate corp stands out? And first and formost which pirate corp would you fear the most?
Please reply in here or a mail if you wish.
Thanks |

Not sure what you mean by "pirates".
If you're speaking of the gate campers, half of them are using orcas nowadays. Not sure why someone would join them. |

Would be a shame if that were the case. There has to be some low sec scum still around???? Perhaps fewer then in the past but
there has to be some good old boys still causing havoc in low-sec....

Thats actually a good answer. There is no professional pirate group who would ever reqruit people from the street (forum).
Wanna goin us?
-Move to our area. -Stay low. -Fly smart. -Make us feel that you hunt here aswell. -Save my ass. -Make a friend.
^ That was the way Mean Corp. let me in after 3 months of dodgeing them.
That is the way i make friends with other pirates.

Solo is an option but not one i want, been a pirate in the past ran a pirate corp in the past.....
This is not a recruitment thread, this is a general question thread.
This is crime and punishment...
If pirating has changed to the point where no pvp skil is needed, well that is not the pirating of old which i flew back in the pirating glory days. :p
Im rather dissapointed in the answers so far as i figured pirating was as exciting as it was in the past. Perhaps todays pirates are just not the pirates of a couple years back.
I remeber when certain low sec ares not systems were on lock down a pretty much no fly zone, im sure there are some true old school pirates out there who remember those days and perhaps are living them presently.

These are just some of the more known ones. Different styles and tactics for each. As for recruiting currently, I know Tuskers are and I think the rifters may also be recruiting to their feeder corp. |

Black Rebel recruitment is temporarily closed while mighty war wages somewhere in Rens station I guess? Should be open again later this week.

No genuinely, do this. I have on many occasions evaded gate camps from large corporations and battered some of their faction pilots before being offered a position in the corporation. |

I remember veto from back in the day "dark elf" god rest his soul. Awesome pilots grade A pirates.
Shadow Cartel seem to have a rep going as well, which as a pirate is good. :p
Negative Ten is still around, that's cool. (is it still the negative ten from back in the day?)

Nice this is more of the feedback i was looking for, pirating is still alive and well! Im extremely happy to see pirates from the good old days still around and popping carebears :p.
So if you had to name the top 3 pirate corps, which would you pick? based on your personal opinion.

I would say Gunpoint, the rifters and Stain, because they actually leave a gate to hunt people, without having to blob@titan-bridge. |

This thread will now devolve into name calling and whining about tactics each entity employs. Most of these low sec groups run very different styles of fleets and tactics. Choosing a top 3 is somewhat meaningless.
Also we Tuskers don't gate camp and wouldn't know what to do with a titan if we somehow managed to afford one. We are pretty space poor. |

Not meaningless simply an opinion, that im curiuos of. As for tactics, pirates should not be governed by tactics, they simply take what they want when they want. :p

Since I'm no longer playing, but still have my subs running for now, I'll give a little (relatively) unbiased opinion.
I've never considered corporations who just sit and gate camp and/or smartbomb all day as pirate, in all fairness. It's just laziness and fear of having to actually do some work, as cost effective as it might be.
Best pirate corps in the game by far at present (in no particular order) are :
Gunboat Diplomacy Lead by Sard, who's an awesome guy. Very skilled pilots who know their **** and can adapt really well to game changes in order to keep thriving. Not afraid to branch out into 0.0 like some pirate corps are, and packed with pilots who are on the ball and fully versed in how to handle themselves effectively.
Shadow Cartel Gave us a real good run for our money when we were based in Sinq before getting bored with lowsec, the best challenge we had for a long time. Awesome group of guys, a little bit too smacky for my taste at times but have the skill to back up their **** talk and have a solid leadership. Also active enough to field the numbers to fend off the blob when needed.
Club Bear Not really sure if these guys actually class themselves as a pirate corp, but they're a class act never the less. Always on top, always faster and smarter, and from what I can see very solid with their solo and small gang tactics.
The Tuskers Reputation speaks for itself, cool group of guys with a really solid rep. They were up and coming when Veto was back in its lowsec hay day and I've always watched them with great interest and hope for their future. Really nice group of guys who have a rock solid piracy business sense going on. Hearing about them actually makes me a little bit nostalgic about what we used to do in Veto. I think in terms of similarity, corp structure and attitude wise, they're probably the closest corporation I've ever seen to Veto.
SniggWaffe Solid group. Again a little too smacky for my taste but the leadership knows their ****, and how to get people competent and flying in a rock solid gang pretty sharpish. I've still got a lot of respect for them after being with Snigg back when they were at their peak of their lowsec hay day.
TunDraGon These guys are legendary. They were around back when I was fresh to lowsec PvP in Snigg and were always awesome. They kind of dropped off the map for a long while, but after seeing a few members of theirs a little more active recently I'm hoping to see a resurgence of their activity and restoration of their name as one of the most dominant pirate corps in game.
There's also a lot of smaller less known pirate corporations out there that are rock solid at what they do, who mainly prefer to stay under the radar. I'd say the six above are the ones that really stand out for me right now.

Many pirates operate differently. I have always loved solo/small gang warfare and the use of ransoms/hijacks to support myself. Rarely do I find myself in BS gangs; and the times I do find myself in a BS I am usually using an alpha fit to one volley things undocking from a school station.
Some pirates love to gate camp (not my thing),
Other's like to station camp (again not so much)
Some like to take frigates and go to celestials for 1 v 1 fights (not really being a pirate; it's just PVP).
Other's roam low-sec and WH's as well as 0.0.
Each corp/group's tactics differ. The larger pirate corps/alliances are usually a little more static and will roam a certain region(s), for targets. It usually depends on size/play style of the group of people that are together. However, it must be said that there is a big difference between PVP groups, and pirates.
I usually define a pirate as someone actively looking to make isk from PVP activities; while a PVP'er is someone more concerned about getting a kill/having a fight (these are the individuals who get endlessly frustrated when you wont engage on THEIR terms). |

Nice to see you Verone, hope you back in the mix of EvE again. We all know you will :p.
See as a pirate which i did for a long part of my EvE life was not to profit from my kills (it was a bonus), i enjoyed the smaller scale warfare and the tears were also enjoyable, lol.
Small scale fights are in my eyes are a lot more fun, your fits matter more, your tactics make a bigger difference. It's not "all lock, fire, primary dies"
The more i've aged in eve the blobbyer 0.0 gets, easier to get smaller scale fights in low-sec.
Back in the day a small nano gang would wreck havoc on a roam, the speed was epic. |

While I don't consider us to be a 'pirate' corp a few of us do 'pirate' as an extra isk income (when we remember to stop shooting that is )
We also have people all over the place from Low sec, High and null. Even a few of us pop into WH's now and then to terrorise to locals.
So from my travels around the place I would say
Shadow Cartel, Tuskers, Gunpoint, Heretics
That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything. |
