"Everyone needs a good hobby"
How many times have you heard it? Well for me I found in New Eden I had stumbled on one by accident.
Tritanium.
Over the years it just started to accumulate. Piles of it. Impulsive buying of it on the cheap, mining leftovers, reprocessed loot and anything else that would come along.
After a while I decided I wasn't simply going to sell it for quick billions, but see how far it would go. Eventually a target formed in mind's eye. A number so preposterous it was simply crazy. However, New Eden is a crazy place and the more I thought about it the more I thought - why the heck not?
So the target is clear.
One Trillion Tritanium or 1,000,000,000,000 Tritanium.
Through my own ongoing efforts I plan to see how far I can go to pile up a mountain of Tritanium that not unlike the EVE Gate is simply an attraction in itself.
Will I ever get there? Can it ever be done? Who really knows but one thing is certain - I have to get moving!
So for giggles and a starting point I needed to just throw some on the pile, and I mean throw as I won't be using this for my own ends any longer.
So onto the pile goes one hundred million Tritanium. That's a drop in the ocean. 100,000,000.
Or, if you like 0.01% of the way there.
I hope to share the progress with the community, and also have some plans to make the journey interesting I build a monument of one damn cool pile of shiny stuff that will sit there for all time.
Current Tritanium Pile Status
Week: #1 Quantity: 100,000,000 Progress: 0.01% Estimated Completion: 192 Years 15 Weeks
Thanks for reading about the Trillion Tritanium Project.

What you going to do with your 2.5 trillion isk when you get it? Sell it? I can't say I blame you.
BTW, how much is 2.5 trillion isk worth nowadays?

This is an epic project, good luck man. I look forward to seeing your progress, and hearing what things you end up doing in your blind lust to reach such a huge number.

There was, I think this is the "progress" thread. And apparently I was drunk so I'm not 1/3 there, was closer to 1/30 iirc (still drunk)

In the Colonies 1,000,000,000 = 1 Billion 1,000,000,000,000 = 1 Trillion
In our glorious Empire 1,000,000,000 = 1 Thousand Million 1,000,000,000,000 = 1 Billion
Was it because when one described oneself as a Billionare to the Colonists they got all uppity and detested our wealth.

Erm ... no we don't. Not since 1974.
A billion is a thousand million, a trillion is a thousand billion.

Trillion Tritanium Project Update
Well, that was an interesting week or so. Had to reshape my project launch announcement so it didn't represent begging on official communication channels, then announced it in the wrong place. A petition or two to sort everything out but now we are back on track. Thanks to the authorities for helping me sort all this out.
Kind of got a response I wasn't expecting. More along the lines of "filthy scammer" when I thought it would be something simple like "You're crazy!". Oh well, that's life in New Eden I suppose, trust is a rare commodity!
So, on to the numbers. Even with medical advances 192 years was a bit of a shock to the system so the ante will have to be upped to get anywhere close to the 1T mark, so 110,000,000 more Tritanium from my own reserves go on the pile.
Current Tritanium Pile Status
Week: #2 Addition: 112,005,000 (Including 2,005,000 donated) Quantity: 212,005,000 Progress: 0.0212% Estimated Completion: 181 Years 21 Weeks

Trillion Tritanium Project Update
Welcome back for the weekly update of the cooler named T1 project!
Well, what a shock. This looks like one mighty challenge. And not just the crazy high pile of Tritanium needed but the logistics of the exercise as well. Not just the challenge of getting the stuff, but taking the time out to shift it to the one station because having it is no fun when it's spread all over the galaxy.
So that will be the next focus over the next few weeks, dodging of course a certain event that is rumored to take place in high security space later this month.
It also looks like I will need to stay focused as Tritanium prices are rather high at the moment and while I will still trade in Tritanium, I have to keep at least one eye on the prize.
Also a special thanks to Cool Coogo for a generous donation.
So, on to the numbers. Thankfully the years are dropping, but it will be interesting to see how much Tritanium I can find in dusty hangers or what can be converted into the stuff.
Current Tritanium Pile Status
Week: #3 Addition: 123,214,432 (Including 3,214,432 donated) Quantity: 335,217,432 Progress: 0.0335% Estimated Completion: 172 Years 5 Weeks

Interesting. I made some calculations and your estimates are a bit off. If you mined 23/7 non stop in a max skill hulk you could mine veldspar and get enough in 121 years 11 weeks 6 days and 18 hours. Or you could have others mine it for you and buy it to do so you could mine a more valuable ore, like arkanor which would take 13 years 19 weeks 6 days and 2 hours. Another idea is buying plexes, but at $115k maybe not. These all assume no haul time. Lastly you could get a group of 679hulks not including haulers mine for 1 month continuous and earn it. or if they have a year to kill you can get 56. Perhaps 10 hours a day mining more valuable ore? 11,204 hulks in a day or 112 days with 100 hulks or ... the different ways for 1trillion tritanium are endless. I wish you luck and may the odds be EVER in YOUR favor.

Trillion Tritanium Project Update
Welcome back for the weekly update of the even cooler named 1T project!
Yes a bit of a mix up on the name. As one day I am hoping to see a pile of Tritanium in the inventory with 1T under it.
Well, what a bad week to decide to retire Tritanium. It was a face in hands day or so looking at Tritanium prices thinking I could simply sell the lot but it probably wouldn't be that sporting being only a few weeks into the project. Yes, I could have sold it and bought it back when it dropped again but that's the way it goes. As the pile goes up and portions of it can be moved without looking like I am abandoning proceedings I may look at that. However, for now I am happy enough to simply round it up from the many stations - particularly in Low Sec systems where I have stockpiled most of it.
As now is not the time to be moving quantities of anything in New Eden I will simply be ear marking amounts for the pile and not moving them anywhere. Once security is restored in High Sec I can begin to shift inventory again. As I have said, it so much more fun to see the pile in one location than spread out through my assets.
Now, to answer a few question about the numbers. The Estimated Completion time is not based on things like how many men can shovel Tritanium per hour with twice as many men working on Tuesday and Thursday except on the first of the month etc. The numbers are based on my rate of allocation per week to the project. So basically, if I increase my contribution the time will decrease. If I drop my contribution the time will perhaps extend - based on the average.
So, on to the numbers!
Current Tritanium Pile Status
Week: #4 Addition: 130,000,000 (No donations this week) Quantity: 465,217,432 Progress: 0.0465% Estimated Completion: 165 Years 18 Weeks

Trillion Tritanium Project Update
Welcome back for the weekly update of the 1T project!
Well, it's not quite the weekly update. Last week was a bit of a mess and with all the dangers in High Security space for industrialists. Taking eyes off the screen to post updates was a bit too risky. So this is an update for the last two weeks.
On the upside it was a good opportunity to spend more time in Low Security space for a change. A nice place, more people should go there. So it was a good week of sneaking around in the Occator and trying not to meet the locals. It was a productive time and I managed to pick up a whole lot of assets that had been languishing for years. Fortunately, a lot of what I picked up was Tritanium! I still have a fair bit of it to round up in far flung places I haven't visited in a long time (some places never been there) so I won't be parking the Occator just yet. I will say one thing though, the longest part of this operation has been setting up bookmarks, but they are a life saver - literally!
NOW I've started to centralize the pile a little bit more and it all feels a bit more real as you can see the actual number building by the day. Just to round the last two weeks off I'll also round the pile to a nice quantity although the downside of all this activity is that I'm not really making a dent in the time to complete while I do this running around!
So, on to the numbers:
Current Tritanium Pile Status
Week: #7 Addition: 231,570,136 (No donations this week - AGAIN!) Quantity: 700,000,000 Progress: 0.0700% Estimated Completion: 165 Years 38 Weeks
Thanks for reading about the Trillion Tritanium Project.

Wow, you still at it?
Dude, if you're actually serious and keep it up i'm going to start giving you mine. I hate that stuff cuz it takes freighters and freighters to transport for sale. I don't even know where I keep getting it from since i try to avoid mining veld.
well except for the really big velds.
or all the velds when one of them is so big and has a nice planet in the background it needs to be screen-shot and the rest of the stuff needs to be cleared out....
...well ok so i do know where all of it comes from.
I'll start saving my trit for you If you convince me you're serious and not a scammer and are at this long enough i'll hand it over :)
