I have a MacBook and I'd like to use 800 x 600 for the game. Please don't hound me asking why. I just do. Anyhow, how can I accomplish this? I thought maybe prefs.ini would do the trick. However, I don't see an entry in it for the resolution and I am afraid to mess up the current file. Can someone please give me a hand?

You want to have it in a window on a small macbook?
Every time i connect an external monitor, resolution is changed to 800x600, however you cant play like that cos half of lower screen is missing, just force quit the app, unplug the external monitor and restart the app, the game will start normally, CMD enter to get it in a window mode and the game will change resolution to 800x720 or something like that so your window can fit between dock and top panel.
Also i am using Intel X3100 unsupported graphic card :)

1024x768 is the lowest supported resolution
I am 99.99% sure this is in system requirements

I will try to connect to a monitor and try that method. You need a DVI to VGA adapter for that I guess then. I thought there might be a way to force the app to run in 800 x 600 by adding a paramter to the app, but I do not see any place to do that type of thing. I know how to do it in Windows, but not Mac.

This is the case. There are also no exposed values you can tweak to set a custom resolution.

Would something like this be a solution? (See: "800 x 600 Support" in the post).

my mistake, the resolution after you connect an external monitor is 640x480 :) but next time you start the eve it will change to 1024x640, and will stay that way until you change it next time.
