Seriously, in the future there is still a war against drugs? People should be able to transport and keep boosters in their holds in empire without the repercussions that are currently in place: the fining, confiscation, and standing loss in empire. These rules make no sense. There are considerable drawbacks to the high-end boosters in place already and they should stay in place. Just get rid of the assinine "We hate drugs" in the future garbage. Besides, isn't everyone at CCp stoned or drunk anyway?

Funny thing is that Incarna 1/10 will be about "Smuggling in Stations"; stolen goods, contraband and such.
So I pretty much expect that boosters won't be legalized in the meantime.

In before some roleplayer explains the different faction views on drugs. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

Edited by: Steve Thomas on 30/01/2011 03:51:51 Well I suspect that in the future there will still be people like me who, in real life and if given the chance, would vote to legalise haveing drug dealers* drawn and quartered while still alive, and then have shovelfulls of texas fire ants pored into the bleeding woulnds.
No I am not kidding.

Despite the studies that show that Marinol is less effective at treating symptoms. That there has been no synthetic THC that is as effective for treatment.

Quote: "The theme of what we're looking into for Incarna is called 'risky business'," says Arnar [Zulu]. "Smuggling, contraband, trading, black market, handling stolen goods... stuff like that. The things that you need to do 'off the grid', things you need to do without anyone else seeing."
Quote: "Having the profession of a smuggler, of a contraband trader, of a black marketeer, in my opinion [Zulu], should be a vital aspect of EVE Online. I think through Incarna we'll be able to realize its full potential."
Quote: "Current gameplay functionality that is available in space will still be available in space, but we'll extend on it into Incarna" [Zulu]
Quote: The drive for CCP, it seems, is about augmenting the current market systems be expanding and developing EVE's shadow market. [that already exists through contact lists, forums and in-game conversations]
Quote: "We are at the point of thinking about new items that would be solely tradable in stations. New things, potentially, like new boosters and implants - items that are highly prototypical, very risky and almost certainly illegal" [Zulu]
Quote: "For the first stage of Incarna, we envisage what we call 'establishments'. These are basically slots in a station that will be fairly neutral. You can build bars in them, but you can also have them as your own humongous living quarters."
Quote: "To me [Zulu] Incarna version 1.0 is not even close to the end of what Incarna will be. It's just the beginning, just as EVE in 2003 was the first step in a very long journey that we're close to eight years into. I see the exact same thing for Incarna".
------> TL;DR is that Incarna will be used for new professions in the theme of 'risky business' such as "Smuggling, contraband, trading, black market, handling stolen goods... stuff like that". CCP may make new items (boosters, implants, etc) that will only be able to be traded in a station 'off grid', but that won't be in place for Summer 2011.

I'm almost certain that boosters are illegal; because, like in reality, they are made by and sold by criminals and in turn fund large criminal organizations. By criminal, I mean they do not abide by the laws established in governed territories. I doubt those laws are in place just to impede on some poor innocent capsuleer's right to get high and fly into a planet that came out of nowhere. Corporations rule the galaxy in this game and those corporations are all as corrupt as they can possibly get; so, if they don't have control over a product, you're damn right they are going to form some controversial pact to hinder it's existence, especially with the idea that every drop that is made, is another thorn in their side.
Concorde would agree to enforce it as a law, simply because it means protecting the major corps that control empire space. If you're worried about how people spend their free time in the future; well, seeing that human beings are almost perfected genetically, who's to say anyone would need some narcotic to help ease their tensions when they can just genetically enhance them to not need trivial things, thus freeing up their minds to target bigger more ambitious tasks.
