No one is going to tell you what they are manufacturing if it's making them lots of money. My advice would be to start with something small (ammo, modules etc) and see how you get on with them.
You will also need to get your production skills up to see the benefits of building items over selling the minerals themselves. -----

There are also a number of guides that are stickied to this forum explaining how manufacturing work.
Its also worth doing a search, since your question gets posted at least once a month, so people get tried of providing detailed advise. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

Definitely start with something small... laser crystals, ammo, light missiles, etc. ... these move fairly quickly on the market, research and manufacturing times are short, the BPO's are cheap. Any "mistakes" you make aren't going to hurt you.

multifrequency S crystals are a nice starter, they have a huge margin. Get a multifrequency s blueprint or 2 or 3 and manufacture 1-2k of the crystals. You dont need so many skills to produce these cost efficiently. Then try to sell them. You will run into some problems, but you need some experience and multifrequency s is a great starting crystal for that purpose.

Some or all of these comments may actually be useful. As said, look around for a walkthrough, there are some good ones around.
Seriously, if you're going into manufacturing a couple of skills you'll need are production efficiency and mass production. The first you'll really really want at 5, the second can stay at 4 for a newb.
Another thing you'll want to do is do market research on what's profitable. Basically you'll need a spreadsheet where you can enter the various material requirements for stuff (take into account your skills and BPO ME), the material prices and the market value for the finished product(s). To save yourself aggravation (and having to skill up on trade skills) you might want to use buy order value. Also put in a field for things like contract costs, station manufacturing costs and whatever. All of the above will (if put together right) show you your potential profit. Some looking around should give you something that's profitable to build and sell. Now build/sell some of those and reinvest the profit (in skills, a next larger batch, a POS, whatever).
Some things to be careful of: - Saturating your market. Just because you can build 100000 of something and there's a profitable buy order for those widgets right now, that doesn't mean there'll be a buy order around by the time you have the stuff ready for sale. Remember, if you can't sell something you'll be stuck with it and can't use the income from it for your next item. - Overspecialization. Don't stick with one widget. Use some of your profits to buy other BPOs (check for potential profitability) and split your efforts between the BPOs. Rotate production between BPOs every so often while continually checking for profitability (see spreadsheet). - Consider putting your production stuff in an alt. As a miner/missioner you'll probably be moving about every so often. Create an alt (same or second account) for your production work. That way the alt can stick around in a factory station near Amarr/Rens/Jita/Auvergne to keep an eye on production and stay close to the market.
Hope this helps.
