I just came back after a break and realized that learning skills have been removed. Does this make it more viable to train alt characters on the same account now, let's say a combat character, a miner and an exploration character?

Training alts on the same account as your main is a very bad idea.

Not really a bad idea if used the right way.
But yeah, it is more viable to train more alts. If you still have at least 2 remaps available, then you can focus the attributes to boost one set of skills to the level you quickly need. Once you're done, you can then use the remaining remap to train skills that will benefit you in the long term.

Good for training up a character for corp management, maybe. ---

For that you might as well train those skills with your main and leave alt as CEO since only founder (main) ever needs those skills anyway.

yes, and there is no reason really not to train up a couple of alts for production / science / data core research etc. as soon as you main can do what you need then the alt can continue with more slots --

Edited by: Misanthra on 02/02/2011 04:54:15 depends on how in depth you want the alt. Say a and need an empire hauler, industrials train quick enough to not hurt the main.
Some are saying production/manufacturing....ehh, this really is best left to a power of 2 offer. take the offer, sell at 5 months 3 weeks and a few days to the main account lol. Indy stuff will nickle and dime you to death with trains. At some point got tired of seeing a new item I wanted to make having a skill I missed. Went to a skill book market hub, science section skillbooks, a-z bulk buy for any I didn't have. Power of 2 makes this much easier (farmed my indy on one)...and a good indy pays back in spades if you run them right so worth the costs imo.
Also depends on what your main does...if combat they are never really done for quite sometime. And thats jsut an empire carebear char...throw in pvp they will have lots more to learn like hacs, recons, logi's and caps + support skills to not have them suck.
