Can someone tell me if this is the correct formula for making a unprobeable ship
sig radius divide sensor strength, equals less then 1.18 ? or 1.8? or 1.08?
These numbers I have found around some forums but can't narrow it down,
Thanks

I believe if (Signature Radius / Sensor Strength) <= 1.08, you'll be unprobeable by anyone, even if they have all skills to V and relevant implants.
For 95% of scanners though you could probably do with a slightly higher number (assuming no implants). Not sure what the number would be if implants are taken out of the equation. ------------------------ Low-sec is like sailing along the coast of Somalia...

No ship is unprobeable as example follows - http://www.amarr-empire.net/killboard/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=178816

I've heard that there is such a thing as having too high of Signal Strength, and that Loki (were it running all of it's ECCM modules) would have way more Signal Strength than necessary. I have an unscannable Loki fit that needs only two ECCM modules for that magic 1.08 ratio.

I doubt you can be "too unscannable." That loki didn't get scanned out. The assailants had his bookmark.

The unscannable shipkills I've seen have either been unverified, or have simply amounted to pilot error - and not due to any hidden in-game mechanics to be able to scan them out.
That said, I've read somewhere a long time ago to the same effect as Lirinas said, that supposedly that you can bring your sensor strength too high, but I can't for the life of me find where in the EVE boards where I read that. I think I'll have to run some of my own tests when I get the time to see if this is true or just a wife's tale? --- If you've read something I posted and want to contact me, EVE-Mail me, or contact me via EVE Gate. |
