I've recently started exploration again roaming thru low sec and etc. I use a Legion atm with a Cov-Ops cloaking and the Scanning Sub. The one thing that frustrates me is that the dps is just awful but I love the scan bonus and the cov-ops cloaking. Been searching on BC looking for fits that have a lil more dps but they all have improved cloaking II which I'm not all that comfortable with esp if I jump thru onto a gate camp (which will suck since no cov-ops cloaking in that case). Basically I"m asking is their anything decent like T2 cruiser (Recon) or a low sig radius/fast align cruiser or bc. I used a myrm before back a yr or so ago had no problems did nice dmg and tanked very well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance. |

Most people use a different ship to do the finds after the scout ship bookmarks them I think. |

I know most low sec systems have stations maybe if it's quite enough switch to a full on lvl 4 fit that's set for high dmg anyways with all the subs that'll make it respectable. Really trying to get a setup that's an all in one oh well might be on eft for 8 hrs racking my brain on fits and junk lol. |

since you are looking for a T2 cruiser, Pilgrim is the way to go. I've been using one for lowsec exploration for a long time and never had problems with it.
Check out some fits on BC (believe that is where I found mine) and you'll find it's the best all-in-one ship for the price. It is skill intensive though, requiring Recons V and Cloaking V to make the fits work.
Also, hardwires for scanning are worthwhile if you aren't doing it in a scan bonus ship (personal opinion). |

Try a Loki... you'll get better results with that than the legion I think.
As for the pilgrim, it works quite well too, unless you plan on going for really hard to scan sites. I've noticed that a pilgrim evenwith grav rigs and a sister launcher and sister probes has trouble finding some sites. (ie: it can't get 100% on some sites ) \ |

If you are used to working with a Myrm in lowsec you know the tricks. Drop the Cov-ops from the legion and get a real combat subsystem instead - more risky? Marginally. But DPS will go way up.

This, pretty much. Keep the scanning sub, fit an improved cloak. Make sure you throw together subs to get as many highs as possible. Max out your damage.
Tengu can kinda sorta get away with fitting a covops cloak and doing damage but it's the only ship that can really pull it off. Loki is second, I suppose, but without any range at all. In the end the covops cloak is just going to slow you down.

legion's weak, sansha damage and angel resists, get a pilgrim, using a normal cloak on a T3 is silly, too risky
just get some cheap t1 like a battlecruiser, put a mwd and a cloak on it and you're fine, myrm's 2nd best after a drake, if you want to run covops t3 get a proteus or a tengu |

If you could get DPS with covops capability, why would anyone go with anything else?

I like the concept of a MWD and T2 Cloak cycle the mwd after coming out of the gate punch the cloak w8 a few secs pop the cloak and warp away should be well out of scram/disrupt range unless i hit a arazu/lachie or anything with a scram disrupt bonus to range and dual sebo fit ships :( As far as the tengu goes my friend uses his to plex 0.0 and has 0 issues just wish i had caldari cruiser V. Piligrim I guess you get your dps from drones?? |

Pilgrim is great -- for radars and mags. It can even take 4/10s. But it won't stand up to any serious combat sites better than a covops T3 -- AND it won't have the scan bonus to track them down.
Don't get me wrong; I love my exploration Pilgrim. But if you're looking for a low sec combat explorer, it isn't the ship for you. |

Aside from good drone skills...keep in mind....Recon V is a must for Pilgrim to be effective fit wise. |

I cannot stress the usefulness that is a second account with all the scanning/hacking salvaging stuff. That way slap a cloak on the combat ship sit around use alt to find sites...profit. Also good for scouting ahead in new systems dont loose expensive/r t3/tricked out BC/t2.
Think about it. |

That's the best thing to do, i agree.
If 2 Accounts are not an option: Use a T3 and change fits in stations - carry spare subsystems in a container. Not all lowsec is overrun with pirates.
If budget is low: Get into an improved cloaked gila/ishtar (or drake/myrm, for even less risk).
That's all, try it out and see how it goes. Fate favors the bold! |

Do you really need a expensive t3 or t2 ship for this , i mean i can understand if you are soley after combat sites but ...
I ve been using a arbotrator fitted for explorationr for my low sec exploration for a long time now... recently lost her to a gate camp , but that is a different story...... and granted i usually go only for the radar and mag sites or the occasional combat site Sure it takes more time for my drones to kill all the rats but i can easily tank the site safely till my drones finish their work
Arbitrator dirty cheap , a bit slower in finishing the job but works fine if you have the patience I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire |
