Real celestial body orbits?
are they a no-no in eve? or will there ever be realistic solar systems with orbiting planets and moons?
I would very much love to see celestial orbits, planet and moon axis-rotation, Comets, ort cloud...I could go on.
As for asteroid belts well don't even get me started.....
For me PERSONALLY it just adds to the vital immersion and believablilty of the eve universe by having realistic solar systems. Also why doesn't the sun get smaller and darker when at the edge of a solar system? I just find it silly that the sun is just a blindingly bright at the center, as at the edge of the solar system...
Yes i know im picking holes and they are only little things...but the little things make the difference.

Regarding planetary orbits, right now they're just a technical impossibility. Maybe if we survive 2012 and maybe if it turns out that EVE isn't dying after all then perhaps there will be some way to make it work.
Right now though we just have to live without it.

Have you flow next to a star ingame? Those tiny little balls of light are laughable. Planet scale is equally laughable as well as the speed of the ships ingame.
All of this is necessary because the true size and scope of a star system is beyond the ability of a game to mimic.
Frankly, the idea that any size ship could be scanned down in 30 seconds in something as large a star system is the biggest suspension of disbelief in the game. It is simply impossible according to the laws of physics.
There are just some limitations we have to accept.

I agree with you, but I think that last part makes you seem just a little bit stupid. A wide-angle deep-field telescope in 2010 can scan down a light signature not only within its current solar system but many others. Why wouldn't you believe something like this would be capable for smaller and more dispersed signatures 20 thousand years later?
Anyways, tl;dr there's an immersion shatter around EVEry corner (personally I'd rather see no-clip planets fixed first).

Umm, your calling me stupid? Light travels at 300000km/s and would take upwards of 24 hours to cross a system, therefore it is impossible to know what is around pluto within 30 seconds of its arrival. If it had been there for 12 hours or so then a telescope might pick it up but it still has to wait for the reflected light to get there
Before you decide to call someone stupid you should really try to know your subject matter.

A) You didn't specify "on it's arrival", so yes, yes you can scan down something within 30 seconds even now (an alien arriving in our solar system could scan down the Sun instantly). B) You've know concept of super-luminal physics. Already we know of tachyons and quarks, black hole mechanics and dark matter that are all capable of delivering information faster than light. I'd further go into quantum spins and instantaneous transfer of information, but I don't think you're ready for that. So suffice to say, in twenty-thousand years time, scanning down an object shouldn't be your primary source of immersion shatter as it can entirely be explained with believable physics of the time. CCP have bigger fish to fry, like no-clip planets, firing through ships, proper physics, etc.

Well unless you are used to spending all day in one low sec system it should be rather obvious that I wasnĘt referring to someone being there for 12-23 hours. Most miners in a system like that wonĘt be there for more then it 1 or 2.
Also, I actually am extremely well versed in astronomical theories and fully understand that there are several UNPROVEN theories that claim through quantum mechanics that perhaps tachyons or some other forms of particles might travel faster than light. My original statement was that that the laws of physics say it cannot be done and the vast majority of astrophysicists would still agree with that.
Black hole time dilation is irrelevant in the absence of a black hole and to this date no one has any real, accepted idea what dark matter is let alone what its properties are.
Now as far as it being in the far future, I said in my original post that worrying about such things in the game are pointless. What I donĘt understand is why you feel the need to be such a turd in the tone you take with me.

Because I find it laughable that with all the other immersion shatters in this game you can't seem to wrap your head around the one thing which is readily justifiable. Quantum mechanics and q-spins are already theoretically proven and experimental quantum computers do exist; we've already observed effects of time dilation; so that you are unable to envision that a human population capable of superluminal travel 20k years into the future some how cannot conquer the problem of superluminal scanning is, as I said, laughable. We don't need to confuse people here with matters that are already solvable by lore, it just takes away from the real issues.

Not one of the technologies or theories you speak of has shown the viability of superluminal detection let alone travel. Whether you hear Michio Kaku, Kip Thorn or Steven Hawking speak about it the one reason they all agree that it is unlikely that we are or ever will be visited be another extra terrestrial species is because the technological hurdles in trying to achieve faster than light speeds are on the order of millions of years ahead of us.
Indeed, the only viable theory that MIGHT allow FTL travel is through the use of worm holes, but the energy requirement would be in the order that which is produced over the life of a dwarf star like the Sun. Physics at least doesnĘt expressly disallow the possibility.
But please, as an interested student of astronomy I would love to read the source material from which you base your opinions so I would love it if you would point me in their direction.
Next as we both agree that the game should not try to mimic the realities of interstellar travel the hostility in your posts is unreasonable and immature.
