So IĈm having a problem figuring this one outà
IĈm working on two planets: one temperate, one lava. They both have the exact same setup, i.e. same amount and type of structures in the same configuration/relative positions with one exception. That exception is a link between an ECU and storage.
Visually, the link distance looks longer on the lava planet. I say this because I can zoom in 100% on the temperate planet and see the ECU and storage on my screen. On the lava planet, when 100% zoom is applied, the ECU is well off the screen from the storage. However, when I view the stats of the links, the temperate (perceived shorter) planet link actually has a greater power usage than the lava (perceived longer) planet link.
The only cause I can think of for this is the possibility that thereĈs a difference in planet size. Although one looks shorter, the planet is actually larger and thus costs more power. As far as I know, thereĈs no way to check planet size. I dunno that all I can think of atm, just wondering if anyone else has seen something like this??

that explains it. thanks for the response.

Also when you drag out a new link it tells you the distance, I think that's the only way to see the actual distance of a link. I wish they would include the link's distance in the link info, but that makes too much sense.
Planet size is a big factor. Even with your structures as close as they can possibly be the link distance is scaled by planet size. For instance my 3LP 20 advanced factory planets will only fit on a planet about 2000km or smaller with lvl 4 CC.

It would also be nice if when viewing a planet it zoomed in more on larger planets so you could have the exact same setup as you do on smaller ones.
Also make the icons for placing structures smaller when doing them on larger sized planets.

^ This.
It doesn't make much sense that larger planets can support less buildings, due to links that are forced to be longer, just because of scale issues.

Rather than selecting the link, try selecting any building that has a link attached to it. Then select the links option .... TA DA!!!

Thanks. IĈve probably even opened that up before. I guess it did make too much sense after all.
