Hi people! I want to learn some PvP, I'm totally noob in that matter (except for being killed by lowsec pirates, wardeccers of sort and running from ones).
I have a 20mill sp account I can fly Apocalypse, raven, tech 2 fighters but mostly skilled for mining and hauling and refining.
I try to mine out in .1 space alot but even with keeping an eye in local and all the basic security's I still get caught and popped. I lost a scorpion recently fitted with torps, nos, ecm, scram webb, painter, target boosters, Xlarge clarity shield booster, 2 warp stabs and got jumped by just a battle cruiser and he killed me. I didn't think I would lose vs a BC but I realized their was another pirate that jumped in from 40km ish away and was doing something but I was so focused on the guy 10km away from me I didn't see him.
I know that's a lack of pvp exp but I thought having a bigger ship would even that out....apparently not haha.
I have now found a new path, I wish to become a bounty hunter.
1. What ships can take out battle cruisers with relative ease or other type of ships that camp .1-.4 ? 2. What ship classes can stealth bombers take out with no to fair difficulty? 3. I have a long range typhoon with tech 2 ammo what should I do with it? 4. If I want to go BC training what would be the best pvp ship? (I prefer missiles to any other type of shooting) 5. I have a raven how should I gear that for pvp? 6. How to become a good bounty hunter? (i.e finding people with 5mill+ bounties and catching them off guard) 7. If I'm in a pvp fight and they have me webbed, scrammed, etc and I log off what does that do? and same question but in a scram bubble? 8. What would be a good anti-pirate corporation to join and/or a place or corp to practice pvping? 9. will add more later
Thanks for all your help! |

Heh, congrats. You have learned one of the top 5 [unwritten] rules of EvE: "Bigger is not always better."

Baby steps man... baby steps. First learn how to do PvP... then learn how to do PvP WELL... then you go to "Bounty Hunting."

1. What ships can take out battle cruisers with relative ease or other type of ships that camp .1-.4 ?
Too 'broad' a question. But I will give you a 'broad' answer: nothing. Battlecruisers are just a step below battleships are are not easily killed by any class of ships... except maybe a Titan's Doomsday.
Originally by: Sanic Xaqueter
2. What ship classes can stealth bombers take out with no to fair difficulty?
Anything battlecruiser on up will take full damage from the Stealth Bombers torps. However, the Stealth Bomber suffers from tanking issues (namely, lack of). So while you will be pounding away at a large ship, said large ship will be sending his/her drones after you... and drones hurt when you're packing less than 5000 effective hitpoints. However, if you get a couple of friends in Stealth Bombers and focus your fire on one ship, that ship will MELT IN SECONDS.

3. I have a long range typhoon with tech 2 ammo what should I do with it?
Shelve/Sell it. You're going to be learning the basics of PvP... no use in bringing out a ship that is 1) expensive, 2) requires a fair bit of skills to properly utilize, and 3) slow and easily pinnable against smaller hostiles.
Buy a bunch of smaller ships (T1 frigates to be exact) and play around with them. Get a feel for combat in general (especially when it comes to LOSING your ships).
Originally by: Sanic Xaqueter
4. If I want to go BC training what would be the best pvp ship? (I prefer missiles to any other type of shooting)
There is no "best." There is only "best at a certain tactic."
That said, if you like missiles, go for the Drake. It has a nice tank on it but isn't as 'well endowed' in DPS department as other BCs are.
Originally by: Sanic Xaqueter
5. I have a raven how should I gear that for pvp?
Torpedos in the highs... buffer tank, microwarpdrive, and warp disruptor in the mids... ballistic control units, damage control, and/or power diagnostic units in the lows. Throw on shield extender rigs to give you more buffer. Voila!! You now have a battleship that deals monstrous amounts of DPS at close range against large targets and will be called primary by the enemy group.

6. How to become a good bounty hunter? (i.e finding people with 5mill+ bounties and catching them off guard)
No idea. But I do suggest you join a corporation that will help you learn how to do it/help you do it.

7. If I'm in a pvp fight and they have me webbed, scrammed, etc and I log off what does that do? and same question but in a scram bubble?
If you log off aggressed (i.e. you have that yellow timer in the upper left), then your ship will [attempt] to warp off 1 million km from your position (won't be able to do that if scrammed), and sit out in space for the duration of that timer. While sitting in space your ship CAN be probed and killed. The same applies in bubbles.

8. What would be a good anti-pirate corporation to join and/or a place or corp to practice pvping?
The corp "EvE University" can help you with getting to know the basics of PvP and organization. The corp "Agony Unleashed" can teach you the finer points of PvP combat. After that, join up in Faction Warfare and put your skills to the test. _______________________

Greetings:
I recommend Eve University to get the pvp basics (they have some experts in the Uni, so depending on how much you push to learn, and how often you fly with pvp fleets, you will get more than basics). Eve Uni, btw, is anti-pirate and typically has several anti-pirate fleets out per day.
Then after one to several months in Eve Uni, consider RvB or Faction Warfare.
Thank you.

Your best bet is to get with a group of other players experienced in PvP and fly with them. They'll oftentimes be glad to teach you the ropes of both solo and group PvP.
I of course have to suggest the corp to which I belong, Khanid Provincial Vanguard. Look us up in game if you want help. Our corp CEO, Silas Vitalia is one of the most skilled and wisest fleet commanders and PvP strategists I've ever had the pleasure of flying with, and Silas loves to train new PvP pilots. The corp has helped me a lot. /endsalespitch
Even if you don't look at us, I really suggest a pvp oriented core or group of friends to learn from.

Given that list of questions the best way for you to become a bounty hunter is to make people mad so they put a bounty on you.....then get a friend to pod ya and split the dough.
But if ya really want answers:
1: none or all 2: none or all 3: dock it and use the spin feature 4: any of them 5: PvP raven fit....something with lots of warp stabs and a cloak; anything less is NOT pro. 6: Roam around low sec. When you find someone with a huge bounty just sit in the top belt and call them hurtfull names. 7: Logging off while scrammed will save your non-pvp fit ship. Just remember to wait until they attack or it won't work. 8: The best place to learn how to anti-pirate is any low sec system that borders high-sec. 9: Don't add more questions you're on the right path already. Just grab a few battleships and jump in head first!
GOOD LUCK!!!

1. Battleships - good luck tackling though.
2. Solo, none. It can be done but it's far from easy, bombers are best used in numbers.
3. Cruise/Arty typhoon? Put it in a museum of curiosities maybe? Phoon is basically a close range brawler, best thought of as a lardy battlecruiser, Use a pest or maelstrom for sniping.
4. All tier 2 battlecruisers have good points, drake's as good as any.
5. eve search. Nromally: Torps / neut mwd / point / web or painter / 3 slot tank Reactor control unit II / damage control / 3x ballistic controll 3x Shield rigs
6. Podding in high sec is very hard, not much better in low and the bounty system is total rubbish. Not saying it's impossible to do but you'll have to be very creative.
7. When you log off your ship attempts to e-warp to a safe spot, any form of warp disruption will prevent your ship from warping. If you have not agressed your ship will disappear 30 seconds after log off, if you have agressed it wil be 15 mins till your ship disappears.
Log off tactics will also cause large quantities of smack as it's considered a lame tactic.
8. For learning the basics RvB is very good as is eve uni. Fleet warfare is easy to join, fun and often involves shooting at pirates, though does have the drawback of some very smelly politics.
Something that's worth doing if you're serious about finding an anti-pirate corp is taking your time, reading the recruitment forum and leaving the recruitment chat open but minimized so you can check it every hour or so and pick out the decent adverts. Always speak to people in their public channel and check killboards before applying to a corp.

On the off chance that a real PVP noob bites this troll.
Get some isk together (the more the better) Fly to Everyshore to either Halle (Red HQ) or Jurselel(Blue HQ) Join RVB in which every team you prefer.
Fit a rifter or your racial T1 frig of choice and go get in a fight. Rinse repeat ad infinitum. Join fleets and learn from the vets.

Do you mean: warpcore stabilizers? As in the mods that mess up your targetting speed and range? Or mods that use up 2 very usable low-slots? |

Pirating wasn't on your list of things to do I know, but there's a great guide, The Beginner's Guide to Piracy, which will give some good solid basics on how best to go about starting down the PvP route. You may not want to go screaming Yarrr into Local just yet but I'd definitely recommend giving this a read, especially the parts pertaining to ship fittings an tactics. GL with the PvP!

1. Ships don't matter most of the time. It all comes down to the pilot and the fitting of the ship. I've seen frigates decimate battlecruisers. 2. Any non capital ship really. Especially with smartbombs. The problem in stealth bombers is that they are practically made of glass. If you can't destroy your target by the time they can lock on and fire then your done for. 3. Long range is tricky in solo PVP. In fleet ops a long range ship can snipe targets but in a 1v1 match, if they realize you are fitted for long range they will try to get in close. Don't go for long range fighting unless you can fend off a close ranged attacker. 4. The Drake is perfect for you. Lots of missiles, with a large shield tank. It can also hold 5 light scout drones. The Drake is one of the best ships in the game. 5. I don't have any Raven PVP fits. I would suggest using cruise missiles and fitting things that increase the rate of fire but I'm no expert on battleships. 6. Use locator agents and learn to scan down your target. Add whoever you plan to kill to your watch list (without sending them a notification of course) so you can tell when they are on. 7. I believe you can't log out while in combat, for obvious reasons. 8. Don't know any sorry. 9. Depends on your skills and preferences.

Shelve the battleships and T2 frigates, stick to T1 frigates and cruisers to start with.

Don't mine in low-sec. Ever. The slight ISK reward you may get over high-sec isn't worth the added risk.

A small, well fit, well flown ship can easily take down a large, badly fit, badly flown ship.

1. What ships can take out battle cruisers with relative ease or other type of ships that camp .1-.4 ?
Your best bet would probably be another BC (or a T2 variation) or a Strategic Cruiser (T3).
Originally by: Sanic Xaqueter
2. What ship classes can stealth bombers take out with no to fair difficulty?
With no to fair difficulty? None. With a bit of difficulty and some pilot knowledge, battleships and some battlecruisers.
Originally by: Sanic Xaqueter
3. I have a long range typhoon with tech 2 ammo what should I do with it?
Re-fit it for close-range (Torpedos and neuts).
Originally by: Sanic Xaqueter
4. If I want to go BC training what would be the best pvp ship? (I prefer missiles to any other type of shooting)
Any of the Tier 2 BCs (Drake, Hurricane, Harbinger, Myrmidon) are quite capable PvP ships. Since you apparently already have some skills for missiles and shield tanking, a Drake would probably be your shortest train.
Originally by: Sanic Xaqueter
5. I have a raven how should I gear that for pvp?
Torps and neuts in the highs, MWD, point, target painter and shield buffer in the mids, damage control and Ballistic Control systems in the lows.

6. How to become a good bounty hunter? (i.e finding people with 5mill+ bounties and catching them off guard)
Step 1) Join Eve University for a few months to learn the basics of PvP, as well as a bunch of useful stuff about Eve. Step 2) Join Red vs Blue for a few months to get a bunch more experience PvPing in cheap ships. Step 3) Join Faction Warfare or a PvP corporation and make people's pixel spaceships explode.

7. If I'm in a pvp fight and they have me webbed, scrammed, etc and I log off what does that do? and same question but in a scram bubble?
If you have been aggressed (someone has activated an offensive module such as a weapon or some kind of ewar), you have a 15 minute aggression timer (even if you don't shoot back). If you log off, your ship will attempt to warp ~1 million KM away and then sit there for the duration of this timer before disappearing. People can probe you during this 15 minutes and kill you. If you log off BEFORE anyone aggresses you, your ship will disappear after 60 seconds.

See answer to #6.

9. What is a very good solo pvp ship that can win in most 1v1 situations?
Nothing. Pretty much every ship has some kind of counter.
