I know, I know, go try it myself. And I will, if there is a reasonable chance. Is there?

As for trying it out, go on SiSi with an alt/corpmate and see for yourself.

I was thinking of scanning a missioner and trying to get him to shoot at me. Then orbit (hopefully fast enough) to evade whatever he's shooting and see if I can take him out.
I wondering if I can get enough cap regen (or use a cap charger) to perma-run a microwarp drive.
I'm at work now, so I'm just sort of thinking out loud.

Use an afterburner. Also, go find out how missile damage is applied.

Don't use a MicroWarpdrive, it will light you up like a christmas tree for a missile user. Missile damage is scaled down depending on the explosion velocity of the missile and the signature radius of the target. A siege missile shooting an Interceptor will, therefore, do very little damage, whereas a rocket shooting a battleship will do full damage (for what it's worth; i.e. very little).
So, permaruning an Afterburner is easier and more beneficial in this case, as an MWD is harder to permarun and will also vastly increase your signature radius. One of the faster Minmatar cruisers like a Stabber could be worth a try.

You're right (both of you), I wasn't thinking of the signature hit from a micro-warp. Yeah, a stabber might make an interesting experiment. Time to do some EFT games when I get home, I guess.

A mwd will get you killed due to sig bloom, use an afterburner, it cuts the incoming damage a lot.
How much damage you actually take will vary a lot depending on fit and skill. Most players use cruise missiles, torps are generally a golem thing.
There's two main schools of thought to fitting a mission raven, ccc rigged perma tanks which have a hard time damaging AB cruisers and rigor/painter/cap booster fits which will do a lot more damage.
The only way to mitigate the effects of the rigor/painter combo is more speed or ECM, given that you will also need to neut the raven a nano curse is generally the ship of choice, though it would be a pretty stupid bear who decides to shoot at a curse.

There is a DPS graph function in EFT. Use it.

You can try using a 100mn afterburner, it will speed you up like a 10mn MW but you will need a t2 cruiser for that to fit.

100mn will work unless you want to orbit something. Then you can't as its agility goes to hell.

Heavy perma tank ravens will be easy to stay alive against with an AB cruiser... you will die horribly if it's a rigor/painter fit though, especially as that'll likely be a much higher SP pilot.

A Cynabal with a microwarp ****d an old corpmates Golem in nullsec before. Maybe it would work on a raven too
He pulsed the microwarp and he was going so fast missiles coulodn't touch him. The damage from the 425mm Autocannons ate away the golem's active tank fast.

I'd use an Arbitrator, with a full rack of medium/small neuts in the highslots, an AB/cap booster/warp scram/web in the med slots, and some kind of active armor tank in the low slots. Use different drones on the Raven, depending on what kind of damage he's tanking. Then it's just a matter of neuting him until his tank dies, while orbiting close and using the cap booster + repper to stay alive. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

Edited by: yani dumyat on 08/02/2011 17:02:20 After a bit of EFTing I'd say minimum requirements for a cruiser to kill a rigor raven would be:
Straight line velocity 600 m/s or more with afterburner Perma run a minimum of 2 medium neuts Perma tank of about 200 DPS Firepower of about 200 DPS, preferably more
This is theoretically possible with a T1 cruiser like the arbitrator or vexor but only if you know which type of damage to tank against. A curse or ashimu would be a much better starting point.
Edit:

Even with level 4 skills cruise missiles go over 7,000 m/s, much harder to outrun than a golem's torps. A raven with cruise/rigor/painter setup is pretty much designed to kill cruisers.

If you are going after a mission runner raven, probably want to remember a few things: Torps or Cruise will do you some damage, it will all add up eventually He'll have drones, probably lights or mediums. You won't outrun these, you'll need to kill them He probably won't have neuts or a web so you're safe to get in close. He'll be active tanked so you'll have to beat his repping power. He will have a target painter, making you bigger which if you're using rigs that increase you're sig radius, you might end up an easy target for his torps/cruise.
I guess one way to beat him would be to kill the drones, rep whatever damage he gives you and try and nuet him to the point he can't rep damage.
Not a T1 cruiser but an Ishtar would probably do all you need here.

Edited by: Millie Clode on 08/02/2011 17:08:19 If I was in the mood to try ganking missionbears in ravens, I'd probably go for something silly like this:
[Oneiros, LULZ] Damage Control II Armor Explosive Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Medium Armor Repairer II
Gistum C-Type 10MN Afterburner Warp Scrambler II Stasis Webifier II Target Painter II Medium Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 800
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Dread Guristas Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Dread Guristas Antimatter Charge M Medium Energy Neutralizer II Medium Energy Neutralizer II
Medium Ancillary Current Router I Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Hammerhead II x5
-----
80m signature radius 260 dps (or 100ish if you decide to use something like ec-600s instead of damage drones) Cap stable while you have booster charges (or permanently unless you end up taking NPC aggro and have to run the repper a lot).
Probably not a wise idea economically but it would make me laugh.
Also, remember he'll be fighting the NPCs aswell as you, paint him up to increase incoming damage on him (hence the painter on the above fit) or damp/jam him if possible to interfere with his ability to kill the incoming damage. ---------- Who, me? |
