Used to be that the overall theme of Eve was 'Eve is Hard', however, everything has been turned into a isk faucet. Now everything is plagued with elitism and farming. If Eve is Hard, I can understand wanting to have the best players in your group, but to FARM...come on, the developers need to do something about the content if the game has come down to isk/hr. |

Pretty much. My current corp (using that term very loosely) wants to have fun blowing people up, but they let the isk/hr reasoning blind them every step of the way. Mining Barge buff: CCP-áhas acknowledged that miners in general-áare too stupid to make the correct fitting choices to make ganking them unprofitable. |

Haha, haven't seen 'EvE is hard' quoted for ages, it's always been down to isk/hr, now it's just more obvious |

EVE is only about ISK/hr to those who make it about ISK/hr
I have been here since 2007 and could give a **** less about ISK/hr. As long as I have ISK in my wallet to get the stuff I need, who cares if i'm maximizing my potential for ISK. Having too much ISK makes you complacent anyway since you no longer need to work for anything.

Pretty much this.
Once you throw the entire idea of ISK/hr out the door, and go for ISK/fun you will enjoy eve much more.

Eve is a sandbox. It's what we make it. Of course, greater rewards go to those who take the effort; either by more clicking or more thinking or some combination of both.

Seriously. I don't understand what everyone needs all this isk for. Isk for buying ships- ships are for blowing up other peoples ships. I only ever have about 300-500m liquid isk at a time. I fly a ship in the fleet, the ship explodes. I post the loss. Buy a new ship. Loss gets reimbursed. The cycle continues.
What the hell do you guys do with all your isk? 10b officer fit CNR's?? |

What people need to realize is that you can have a passive income in the 20B a year range with next to no effort. Then you needn't worry at all about paying for the ships you lose so you can go out in space and have some actual fun.
Sadly, people rarely think outside what the tutorial teaches them. And what does it teach them? The two least productive ways to make ISK in the game.

Eve has been around for quite a while. Maybe the issue isn't that it's all about farming, but that enough time has passed for the long term players to get themselves into farming patterns.
Farming Ore Farming kill mails Farming materials Farming ships
In those examples, the one that stands out to me is farming kill mails. PvP, the core activity of Eve, has gotten to the point where it is so well known, that people can effectively farm PvP kills. It's been mentioned before that PvP in Eve is a paper/rock/scissors game. Maybe there is some truth to that. If that is the case, then PvP itself can become farming.
This is all conjecture, but if there is any validity to it, It would point towards Eve needing some changes to make the overall environment a lot more dynamic. CCP is probably looking into making changes like that anyway, but it's definitely not a one-patch fix. Profit favors the prepared |

Isn't ISK the endgame for some people? Who are you to say that's right or wrong? And, the fun thing about this game is, you can always stop them farming if it annoys you. Not everyone thinks the same way you do. This doesn't automatically make them wrong. |

I make isk doing things I enjoy doing. I just happen to Enjoy running Anoms in null-sec, level 4 missions in high-sec, mining regardless of where, and occasionally playing the market.
I find PvP mind numbingly boring most of the time. Besides, the people coming into the system I call my home base have all been running away as soon as more than three people + logi un-dock.... Why won't they play with me? Before you say Blob I don't think we've out numbered them by more than one or two and we have been out numbered once or twice.

I'm guilty of the isk/hr addiction. When I started I always said I'll gather some money before doing something fun, just so I could have a "pillow" of isk just in case I need it in my travels, however eventually I liked just stockpiling isk.... I don't know, just having and making a lot of isk effortlessly is kind of fun on its own after all. |

You don't have to farm a thing in this game if you don't want to.
Change the topic to "Eve *players* are farming because they want to and it pisses me off because its not what I want them to be doing" and it will be intellectually honest. |

There is a lot of ways to play Eve, but without ISK in your wallet everything is harder. The pursuit of ISK is a central premise of the game. With ISK you can fly better ship, fit better ships, afford to lose ships ... just to name a small portion of the endless list of ISK related ways to improve your in game life.
That said, making ISK in Eve is relatively easy if you function as a group and see your ISK as a community effort made available to those that need it. I play this game with a small crew of people I know in RL and we basically use the Corporate Wallet as our personal wallets, all ISK earned by anyone flows in and all ISK spent by anyone flows out. The end result is a perfect system that allows us to focus on the fun parts of the game because for any individual expenditure their is always more than enough ISK there. |

Is that your feeling or do you have any facts?
I mean, the carebears (defined by ISK/hour thinking) have ever been in here forever, but I don't think that this makes the majority of the player base... |
