So I am sadly an American, not my fault seriously I was born in this the worst of all countries. There is however a bright side today, I like all Americans am forced brutally and physically to pay my taxes. I had someone else do my taxes this year as the pain and hardship of selling liquor to people has wracked my brain. I get back several times more that I thought I would apparently the tax preparer listed my EVE-O GTC purchases as 'international purchases' and it qualified as a tax deduction due to the country of export being Iceland, which apparently someone in Washington is arrogant to label as a 'developing market'.
Sure enough I look in my bank account today, and I am fully credited, the US Government paid for $220 dollars worth of EVE-O purchases, which translates something to 5.8 BILLION worth of ISK. Granted some of that total was to pay for my subscription fees.
So next time you file your taxes, do the itemization =)

I'm sure there's quite a few countries on most continents that would disagree with that statement.
Other than that... hmmm... this would be sort of good news for USA players, since they would literally end up playing for free (and also get as much ISK as they want for sort of free, to the limit of their tax maximum, I suppose), if your claim is accurate. And it might just be, even if I find it somewhat doubtful (not so much that you personally got it refunded, even if that alone is a bit of a stretch and tough to swallow, but that it would keep being refunded if most USA players would start doing it).
Wouldn't it be hilarious if you got slapped by the IRS for tax fraud and/or evasion a few years later for doing this ?

First, since OP is who OP is, probably not serious.
Second, if he is serious, he should be ashamed at not having the basic education to fill out his own tax return. I have two businesses and my wife has a good-paying regular job and, seriously, it's just not that hard.
Third, though I doubt the foreign transaction deduction/credit claim, the IS an adjustment to income that I first noted this year for 'hobby' expenses. The only qualification on that adjustment (to AGI) is that it must meet the 2% floor, or be greater than 2% of your adjusted income.
2% isn't that much and we met that target easily.

Sure have, but I never paid $645.00 for that kind of burger either.
As well, OP says that he is incapable due to the "pain and hardship" of selling booze to people.
Something else that just isn't that hard.

So I guess the fact that you don't believe this is a legit deduction proves that you are an amazing tax accountant.

If you think its the worst of all countries then I suggest moving to another country, Iran might be more to your taste, just make sure you are Islamic, make sure your not gay, make sure you don't speak out against the ruling body, make sure you aren't seen in public with non relative females, earn about 500 dollars a month on average, etc.

If it's a legal deduction what are they going to audit? The presumption of this thread is that it is legal, and if it is legal then the audit will turn up nothing unusual... And if it's illegal as many suspect but few know then don't make the deduction obviously.

American cheese makes your burger tax deductible. Ask Tom.

Far more tolerant than most nations in the world, after all after 9/11 you didn't see Muslims wholesale rounded up and killed, as happens to many Christians in Muslim countries.
The average American is far more tolerant than most of the world gives them credit.
I'd say more but the mods will end up locking the thread for political discussions.
