Originally by: Madam Terror So I finally took the step up from a maelstrom to a machariel. Tried it in a fairly easy lvl4 (against EoM). I started off in a tengu, cleaning out some ships but leaving the battleships when I decided I wanted to try my new sparkling machariel.
Oula my friend you can't fly the Mach, something with an enourmous radius even if it's the most agile vs same type hull etc etc, like you fly a tengu. Tengu's radius tank/dps tank/ resists tank all at the same time and that's wy it's a T3 ship not a sardine's can.
I would like to see your fit and your aproach vs the rats. If you fly Mach's i'll assume you have perfect skils for every item slot and navigation, and I can't even imagine that you can have problems but don't try to tank 15BS's if you don't know how to do it yet.
Quote: I based the mach fit off something on battleclinic, 4x rep fleet gyros, 2x tracking enh II, rep fleet AB, 2x hardeners (kin, therm), injector II (800's), DG X-L booster, 7x 800mm ac II. 3x cap safeguard rigs.
There are always exceptional pilots and we can not all be that good or have enough experience so at the begining allways overtank and be carefull with eft worriors in "tha house" it's your billion boat that you are going to loose , it's an advice and not a bad one I think, at least until you get some experience with and then yes change tank mods for gank mods.
Quote: The problem was, while I could kite around in my tengu taking no gun hits and the cruises doing like 3-5 dam each, the mach got hit hard. My tactic was to orbit BS at around 10Km with AB running, but the incoming damage was a bit too much. Eventually I ended up switching back to the tengu and finishing the mission with no problems. Am I doing it wrong?
With a battleship you can't do that at the begining and it's for some simple reason =radius/speed.
If you want to close combat with the Mach you must have a huge experience of all spawns/triggers then you must realy sacrifice some gank either by adding +rep with cap injector or + resists, it's the price to pay. Forget the pvp 100k ehp low resists, the mobs will blow your ass with 1k+ bullets and not just a few, try to get 80+ at eatch dedicated mission resist at the begining and then once you have more experience take them down for more gank, actually I can tank everything all alone and sometimes full bs rooms with lower than 60% but I know exactly what I'm doing (sometimes it's hot I admit).
Take a good look at Eve-survival, equip your ship with dedicated resists and don't cry for 250M for a single resist, it's not only for fun that runners put so much isk in their boat, it's also because if you want to go fast you have to get the best assuming you know how to use it OC.
