Ok here is the thing I would like to know how you CEOs out there run your corp. I need tips
How you pay your members for work or how to get them to work in the first place. Grow corp. is isk. Organize your corp. hangers and so on and so on. In a way that you corp. keeps on growing???
Is you corp. well arranged or is it a Mine for a memberĘs ship who is going to lose it next week treadmill?

The best way for an industry corp is - in my opinion at least - if the corp has assets that allow members to generate profit. For example BPOs that can be used to generate profit from production/BPC sales or something similar. That way, you can allow your members to use those assets to generate profit on the condition that they give part of that profit to the corp.. So everyone wins.. the individual members because they get access to BPs they otherwise couldn't afford.. and the corp because it gets part of the profit to acquire new assets.

in a medium sized corp, whenever there is a group mining op everyone keeps their share. If they want, they can sell the minerals to the corp which then uses them to build and sell ships and gear.
The corp mineral prices vary based on market average, so generally if you put effort into it you *could* sell your minerals for more isk. But selling to the corp buys you the right to also buy items/ships from the corp at base mineral price. That way you have incentive to sell to the corp as long as the corp has enough BPOs to make it worth your while. +++

If you find the right people, you'll find that some people don't even need to be paid in order to get them to do stuff for the work.
In every corp I've been in, there's always been people who are happy to give their time doing stuff like mining/ hauling/ training new players/ <insert background stuff that every corp needs done> and neither ask for, nor expect, any reward.
If everyone in a corp gave one day/month of free mining to their corp, you'd be suprised how much of an incredible difference this can make to the corp wallet!

Get your hands off the economy and allow people to do what they want, when they want (economically). Provide incentives for certain goals if you desire so, but don't make them "mandatory". Offer, don't threaten. Above all, don't treat "the corporation" as some anthromorphic entity whose wealth is superior to every other concern; all this means is that people work for giving the directors wealth, which the directors then own; such a system will repulse anyone who has the ambition and the interest to be more than a mining slaves. Instead, discard any economic restrictions, do as I've outlined above, and your corp will be one that offers not the familiar stagnation of communist corps, but economic freedom and the acquaintance of a number of potential business partners.

Edited by: Phantomas on 28/01/2005 15:43:32 It is important to have some sort of center for the corp, some joint goal or communal ambition. Other wise the corp isn't a corp at all but a loose collection of players doing their own things.
Making things "mandatory" doesn't work, it just burns out the helpers and makes people resent you and the slackers. If you have something everyone can agree is important for a goal, with a clear idea of what rewards await, you get motivated people who are pleased to do.
This is a game, and so no matter what corps will be sloppy, no one wants to spend 8 hours a day doing paper work and making sure every member is performing and getting paid appropriately.
an interesting alternative is how PIE works (or use to at least) each member is required to give a certain small sum of isk to the corp wallet each week. That is great for the pocket book and works for a corp that isn't focused on a specific task. Of course PIE is focused on a specific community task (Role-Play) and so they also have a great community :)

When I give the call out that we are going to do some mining 'for corp', often times I get a veritable flood of folks in my corp to do it, since we provide giant ammo supplies, and a night of mining breaks their monotony of doing NPCing. They also love to join me doing Level 4 missions, since getting to fight BSes in the safety of empire is a real joy for them, and me.
I guess as long as we keep a nice dialog open, we all get along and have a nice time in any group activity, even if its making our ears more and more cuddly soft by mining ---

You need to provide an economic incentive for people to work for the corp. Having mining ops where no one has anything to show for it only burns people out and makes them less likely to help with corp activities. Make sure that when people contribute to corp activities, they're making as much if not more than if they were left alone to do their own thing.

I keep it simple. I get my miners orders from which they can make good ISK or trades in minerals. In exchange they mine at times for the corp. Some miners make well over 400 mill a month from the contracts I get them, so a day of mining for the corp isn't that big a deal for them. Otheres like building, so I provide them with BPC's to do their sales, in return they allso keep the corp factories running for the stuff we need ourselves.
The labrats get BPO's to make copies from to sell so the cost for their labs get covered that way. In return they allso make copies for our builders and provide copies at places where we need them.
Agentrunners do their own missions but allso team up to have fun. They buy ammo from the corp at cost or sometimes even get it for free. In return they will let anyone in the corp tag along on missions and teach them the ropes and in the meantime they make ISK in doing missions in teamwork.
All this is voluntarely and works fine. Corp might not grow as fast as some other corporations but we have formed a tight nit group who have fun to do their own stuff aswell as doing stuff for the corp.

Our operation is pretty unorthodox but effective.
We recruit friends of friends in real life. They are required to submit photos of themselves and we determine their physical abilities. The key is to have a tough and loyal regional commanders. Then when someone does not meet their mining quota for the week, we organize a posse and they drive around and fix things up. Basically if your in XETIC and in HC, your job is to mine. After a few visist from Dutchies crew, they are happy to do it for nothing. We then sell the minerals for ISK.

We spin around in circles and somehow make billions out of it. Which we then use to pay for new shoes, with about 20% revenue each cycle.
It's great
