I can't even log on to sisi to voluntarily participate in mass testing just because I have a Mac, not to mention the 20 other problems with both TQ and SISI Clients. We want the same attention as PC users in resolving these issues. Angels of Death EVE Corporation is Recruiting New and Old Pilots!!! |

This is something I have attempted on numerous occasions myself and it is one thing that really annoys me. I have tried to help test the game and been unsuccessful due to the lack of a working SiSi client.
Eventually I gave up, which is hardly ideal since it means if more people do what I do, we get a less tested game on official patch days.

Guys be honest here please.
If you're planning to make a big show with even 200 players, would you really run it on MacOsX ? (i'm just wondering)
in my case, knowing how unstable TQ mac could be, i would be on bootcamp for sure. what's the point if REDS are flagged Purple in our overview ?
yes it's difficult for us. so for them too (i suppose). It's a big patch, with shortcuts, new avatars, etc... and the base source code(2003) is not the best they done. They're stuck with it, just adding lines and correcting bugs (masking them eventually)
i just remember WoW 3 & 4.0, omg mac version was so bad ! and they have means, plus OpenGL. the problem is their old source code.

If they would just give the Mac Client some deserved attention we wouldn't have to bootcamp just to play EVE. honestly if game devs made more clients and version with support of course which is the topic of this thread, I would stay on Mac OSX forever. Why CCP are selling a game that mac user can't play + no customer service! (we have the proof they didn't try to tell us whats going on with all crashes the past few weeks)---+ Proof---+ http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1453921&page=3
This is really bad! people can go in hight court with that kind of situation!!!!
Seriously CCP, if you don't give a S**t about mac user, just stop making eve online on mac and stop wasting are money and time on the game!
Its only a question of respect!!!

You also have the choice to stop your account...
they will never make a native OSX version, unless 50k new players come to eve on mac. back in 2003, i saw Eve online for the first time : OMG I NEED THAT ! oh crap, it's for windows... in 2007 i was just looking for another game, and remembered an old school game named eve, OH MY GOD, it's for OsX for 15days !
yes it bugs, but i manage with it (i don't have a titan yet ;) )
they're plenty of crappy buggy games developped for OSX and Windows, which will never get patched, take a look at ubisoft for example. i don't like Cider, really. But it works pretty well, when it's in a good mood.

Honestly I have not had many problems with my Mac client, I play on the PC client for more than 2 years and I seem to remember even more crashes etc. with that than my Mac client, besides the quit game bug where it freezes but windowed mode fixed that, All I ask for is that CCP at least Try to be better with Mac users and their patches etc, even now a day after the SISI patch for the test I still cant log on... The Client I would say is fine, it just needs more attention from the Devs. Angels of Death EVE Corporation is Recruiting New and Old Pilots!!! |

I've been playing Eve for three years now, and I have to admit that it was the fact that there was a Mac client that attracted me to it. It was so buggy and crashy that I finally said, screw it, and decided to try Bootcamp. I haven't looked back since. I keep a client on OSX, just so I can plan skills etc. when I'm in a hurry, or if I feel like a kick in the bag, I'll actually try to play. Guess what? Logged in this morning to check skills for 5 minutes and CRASH!!! to desktop.SNAFU

The frustration is heavy for most MAC users; how about ANY attention from CCP? A post from CCP that indicates ANY sort of recognition that the MAC community is having significant issues..

MAC O/S X no longer supported...
I went 'bootcamp' yesterday and although only 15 hrs later, zero crashes. I would have seen 2 or 3 MAC O/S X by now at gates, or random areas..

I play on my macbook pro and can't say I have a problem so far. Th egame launch well, clause as intended or freeze some rare time, but who cares. The only thing to fix for me would be this damn black icone for 70% of the items/ships.
Other than that, I think I play the game just as fine as pc users. They crash sometimes too.
Get rid of cider and work on a native client could maybe, at the end, save money CCP. think about it. I bet most of the bugs come from this and for sure the way bugs are so diffrent on diffrent mac users come from how their mac handle Cider.

I only have mac machines at home. I signed up for EVE having no clue what the hell it was about because they put it on steam. I will say mostly that EVE on my 3 year old macBook works great. I have lag issues but it sounds like that is not just a mac issue.
That said, I would really like the opportunity to use the test server and help with fixing issues and testing the game- whatever we have to do to actually use SISI is way beyond my computer literacy. So I endorse what the op was saying.

What's really funny and yet, ******ed at the same time - is that CCP is allowing Apple to advertise it on their site, and mention it in their iMac and MBP write ups. I wonder if Apple actually knows how little Mac support we get, and how crappy the state of things are right now. It crashes like crash, it overheats our computers, overview bugs - wow really?
I would agree; just ****ing stop making the client at all, or do something. Something besides sending in net nanny mods to lock threads. It was especially funny to see them starting to treat the Mac section like General and OOPE. Bull****ery in the finest.
"Zion's Child -"I'm glad this forum is filled with idiots. It just wouldn't be any fun without people like Blane, Zedic, Surf and Jago. Your antics are what make OOPE such a joy to come to." |
