Been going to low sec alot lately, and not having much luck solo. Started getting a bit down on the fact that I was finding it difficult to get a good fight and some good video footage. So I hope this can give others the motivation to keep trying, those good fights will come, fraps will roll.. and it will turn out epic

Generally if you're solo, the Akora area is terrible to find good fights in - it's choke full of gangs flying relatively pimp ships. Instead, check out Heydieles/Old Man Star area. |

Well, sure in OMS, but in Heydieles the worst you'll find is there's a Caldari FW guy who runs around with Loki + Tengu links when he's in a Merlin, name is Perc C or something. Easy to avoid and the vast majority of the guys there are actually solo.

Absolutely LOVED it , This is what one calls inspiration .
Been on the loosing side of pvp most times i am looking for it and at times it becomes a struggle to keep you motivated to undock and search for those 1vs1's specially as a pvp noob speaking for myself.
One of the best vids i have seen , one of the few that is about the looosing side of the game rather then the winning side. |

Just because alot of people seem confused about this video's message, I will offer an interpretation. I am not the creator, and I don't know him, but this is how I personally made sense of the video.
Fascism is very much about the supremacy of the state above the individual, and in The Dictator (the movie this audio is sampled from) we have an approximation of pre-WW2 Germany. In Eve, gangs keep getting bigger, and the individual is being lost in the mechanization of our combat decisions. We listen to FCs, we follow set patters of behavior, and large groups try to eliminate smaller ones.
Solo play is like an escape from all of that. Rather than being "machine men" we are free men (operating machines as we may be) and this opens up many possibilities.
Obviously the movie was about how technology could be used for good, for peace, and to bring humanity together. That is NOT what Eve is about, and being solo has little to do with that, but I do think there is some relevance in this speech for those of us who want to stand against the continued trend towards large groups of pilots dominating what were traditionally good solo-pvp areas.
Finally, as a solo pilot myself, albeit one who doesn't play as much as he once did - I wish you good luck in R v B and with your low-sec shenanigans. |

Very enjoyable video. Really delivers on the motivational and inspirational levels... Almost makes me wanna go back to play some more. Appreciate the quote there :-) Great to see those glimpses of some double plated cruiser beauty :-P Some awesome fights you scored there it seems.
Eve is a very tough game to master, or just to get 'good' at, and even then the definition of a good PvP pilot differs greatly depending on who you ask, and depending on many variables and circumstances.
The social angle is so strong on the game, that you are 'born' into well established set of rules. And as you start moving in the game you move between a whole bunch of different sets of rules, actually from my experience you get hammered with tons of information, and a lot of it contradicts information you've already been taught... Well, it can really become a mess. And its great to follow experienced FCs who's been at it for years. But a pilot will never truly know whats what, from the fundamentals, unless he kind of attempts to 'discover' it for himself. Great to keep in mind what you've already learned from others, but even better to question it and put it to the test, along with anything else a pilot could be curious of, to really test it all.
I found out many of the things I thought were a kind of Eve reality... Were just wrong. Actually the more I went on flying solo, the more free I felt of all that mountain of concepts, numbers, known rules, unspoken rules, 'must be', has to be, nevers, always, etc... Every roam turned into an adventure, and I was no longer answering to anyone or anything, not an alliance, not a corp, not an FC, and most certainly not the killboards... And just started to purely enjoy myself.
There are many aspects in one's life where you can free yourself. I've done it before and I'll do it many times more I hope. And Eve truly was another one, and one of the more fun ones at that I have to say.
Its kind of difficult to point your finger and materialize into words what we mean by a 'free pilot'... It changes from pilot to pilot. But surely, it always has to do with overcoming fear :-) at least of some form. Why do we log on? A lot of people become deeply invested in the game in one way or another... And most seem to only bring about that investment in means of fear of loss. Up to that loss, they accumulate, and even in those great moments of intense action, they don't let themselves take it in and truly enjoy, due to fear of that inevitable future loss.
But that investment can also manifest as a great joy of freedom, flying in the vast empty space that is New Eden, as the free pilots that we are. Free minds really, and furthermore... free souls.
Eve is as spiritual as anything else in this world, no more no less. Of course its designed as a game of pew pew. But what it really is... a place where people interact. In a very unique way too. And as we all have many obstacles to go through in our lives, as human beings on this planet, we bring those issues with us wherever we go. There are no limitations to where or how a human can free him/her self, in some way or another. As the world progresses in technology, old rules no longer apply. Eve is a beautiful place and perhaps a great opportunity for a mind to let go of some forms of fear and insecurity. My latest solo PvP videos: Hunting Spirit (Moa, Thorax) Underdog (Rupture) |
