Once again we must go through the Farce that is Hulkageddon, the Festival of the Idiots.
Various reasons are put forward to justify Hulkageddon. 1) It boosts the economy, by leading to ship sales, mostly Hulks. 2) It targets Bots and macro-miners. 3) Some even consider it ôFun.ö
However, I canÆt help wondering why, if boosting ship sales and the economy were the goal, then why donÆt the players stage their own ôPlayer Run Tournamentö
Yes, I know CCP runs tournaments of its own, and no doubt, CCP runs tournaments precisely because when players think of activities on their own they come up with ideas like ôHulkageddon.ö However, there remain good reasons to develop a ôPlayer Run Tournament.ö for example, a player run tournament would yield a different perspective on the tournament, as well as possibly yield a different set of rules for the Tournament, leading to improvements in CCPÆs big tournaments. Player Run Tournaments would also increase player experience in and with tournaments. Not to mention, that so very desirable goal of increasing ship sales.
If blowing up ships is such rip-roaring good fun, then why do you practice for the Alliance Tournament on Sisi, where the blowing up of ships in inconsequential???
Of course, I could ask CCP the same question. If you, CCP, allow them to engage in Hulkageddon, the festival of the Idiots, where they target defenseless ships because its such fun, then why do you allow them to practice for the Tournament on SiSi??? ShouldnÆt their ships be at risk the same as they put other ships at risk with their Hulkageddon???
If Bots and Macro-Miners were really such an annoyance to the community then why isnÆt it ôBot-ageddon??? Instead of whining and complaining about how CCP isnÆt doing anything about the Bots and the Macro-miners, about how CCP isnÆt taking the Bots and Macro-miners seriously why isnÆt there a Botageddon, which lists the names and locales of known Botters and Macros and takes action against them??? Why not a competition to see who can kill the most KNOWN BOTS???
In short, Hulkageddon is a waste of energy and time, it is completely unproductive, it is a Festival of Idiots, too stupid for EVE Online, proof that Individually Eve players are nerds but collectively they are morons.
IÆve never done anything but MINE in EVE Online. I considered it a haven from all those other MMOÆs where I am forced to be the lackey and employee of NPCs constantly doing their bidding. If I cannot mine without being periodically targeted by bullies, then the game is no longer a Haven.
I have already cancelled my one and only paying account, in preparation of leaving the game completely because of Hulkageddon. This account is sustained by Plex, obtained by Mining.
I also think its very ironic how Hulkageddon is always scheduled for the same time as the release of a new, major MMO title.
RIFT is scheduled to be released at the end of this month/beginning of next. And has an Open Beta which I would not have known about had I not been forced to consider what to do with my time if Hulkageddon forces me out of EVE Online.

Art thou enraged, broseph?
And yes, hulkageddon IS a festival of the idiots; those who regard highsec as a 'no risk isk' source and sit around without properly defending their ships with awareness and correct fitting sense.

Anyway back on subject.
Hulkagedon is good, but not for all the reasons you say:
1) It boosts the economy because :- 1a) Ship sales increase - hulks and suicide ships 1b) Increases prices for miners - those that are watching the skys and not watching ****
2) It targets those that are not watching their screen - afk - therefore bots and people that really should know better
3) It makes mining more interesting, rather than sitting there and watching ****
4) It is fun for the grifers in high sec and those in low sec that always wanted to kill those neuts that do nothing but mine and those in 0.0 that just want to get those bots.
Oh and bad rift troll sorry mate, totally different game to EVE. Oh and you will hate Rift as the PVE screws up what you want to do especially when a big fat elite comes up behind you when your mining :P

Well, if the idiots are the people who think Hi-Sec is a "No-Risk" zone, my question was, why doesn't everyone share the same Risk? Why do other players get to practice for the Alliance Tournament on SiSi WHERE THERE IS NO RISK???

Is there really a difference? At least as far as high sec ice fields are concerned.

You got me there for a moment. From my understanding, Hulkageddon is purposely targeting anyone in Hulks regardless bot or not. Bottageddon in my mind refers to specifically identifying a bot before killing it.
There is a difference in that sense. --------- The making of the new Jenny Spitfire |

You know....
If gankers/griefers were such **** poor PvP pilots and idiots, preying on defenseless ships.. then there should be absolutely no problem in fulfilling the Kill Rights one gets. I mean.. they are idiots that only prey on defenseless ships, should be really easy to return the favor without CONCORD interference as well. Which means, ganker minus 2 ships.. miner minus 1. Damnit, CCP! That's not fair.. for the gankers.
I'm still anxious for someone to not use a 1-2 week old, brand spankin' new alt to post this nonsense. It's either a troll trying to create forum content, whether its to give Hulkageddon more advertisement or just to watch arguement exchanges.. or a bot user that doesn't want to stop highsec belting for 10 days.

A couple of t1 fit insured bc cost a hell of a lot less after they die than the hulk. If you get a good drop you might even make a few isk.

Re-adjust your interweb forum sarcasm detector, or IFSD. I believe it is a little off in its readings.
And there really is nothing stopping a ganked miner from taking revenge on jonny-weekend warrior Hulkageddon particpant as he hauls some PI around in his Orca/freighter.. or as he sits quietly in his mission pimpboat, or at a gate, or outside of a station. The miner got a 30-day get out of jail free card.. the only one stopping them from taking advantage of the situation, is themself. ---------------------------------------- Treat the EVE markets like you are its Pimp.. it is your 'willing' employee to fondle n use n abuse as you please. |

So you don't have guns but you have ISK, right? Why not pay mercenaries to kill corp mates of those who get kills in Hulkageddon? Be creative and find ways to pay them back, instead of giving them what they're after by complaining on the forums.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out !
I've yet to do any high sec ganking (ah the game has endless horizons.. I'll get to it eventually maybe) but its a refreshing idea that it exists.
Idealy they'd do away with npc rats and only have players maybe.. but I understand the satisfaction for some people after a long day at work to pop little pesky red boxes and stack up virtual currency into ever higher piles. I'm not being facetious there.. killing npcs is a little like "comfort food" without the calories...and if the real world finances aren't really shining much, the feeling of getting ahead is very real, even if its in a game and only a temporary feeling that wears off once back in reality.. sort of like counting sheep jumping over a fence.
Still, the rush you feel each time you go through a gate...knowin that something -could- happen...the sense when you look at the piles of isk in your wallet, that theres a sense of pride thiking that you did it braving the worlds dangers...these are all little parts that add to your game enjoyement whether your admit it to yourself or not......even the time you spend *****ing about the injustice and stupidity of it means that you care... hulkageddon give you something to talk about ... something to have a feeling about... something that makes the game more than baby pablum...
...indiference is boredom.
