I fly around in my drake a lot. I have noticed that so do a lot pilots in EVE. With that in mind I would like to be able to tell that my drake is mine and not somebody else's just by looking at it.
I thought it would be a cool idea to introduce battle scars for your ships. A stress fracture there, a burn mark there and all of a sudden when I see my drake I am sure thats mine.
I thought it would give some age to ships as well as showing some uniqueness.
I thought they could be awards for loyalty points or drops from faction ships or available for purchase for handing out to corp members for a fleet battle. These are just ideas and comments are welcome.

Problem with this is that such things would add to server load, something we really do not need in Eve as it is.

Yes I agree. I will just mark it up to one of those wants for a time when CCP is running on quantum computers.

It would be awesome to have battle scars on your ship and more personalization on the ships skin. But as mentioned, server load would be a problem. But as to knowing which ship is yours, Reset camera usually helps me with that. .

if it's cosmetics that interest you, then there would be absolutely no server load imposed on a client side cosmetic effect. If you want OTHER people to see what you make your ship look like, then yes, there would indeed be an overhead on the servers.
