EVE Online: Incursion 1.2 was deployed to Tranquility during downtime this Tuesday, February 15, 2011. A full list of patch notes is available here and new additions have been added in green text. To assist our Mac users we will provide a detailed listing of Mac patch notes and known issues along with useful advice on how to use the mac repair tool and a guide on reporting issues.
Patch notes for 1.2 (deployed February 15th)
- Please refer to the full patch notes for more information
Known issues for 1.2
- Various crash issues; please contact customer support for help in resolving these. Some users have reported that clearing the client cache resolves this issue for them, please note that any direct editing of preference files is never recommended.
- AA cannot be turned on if you also have depth effects enabled, this is something we are looking into. Not sure when or if we will be able to support both in parallel.
- Command key no longer works for shortcuts, it still works for copy and paste etc.
Patch notes for 1.1.2 (deployed January 27th)
- Resolved a number of crash issues introduced with Incursion 1.1
- Fixed an issue where the In Game Browser on the Mac client was truncating HTTP header values to a single letter so adding websites to trusted sites list should work as expected again.
Patch notes for 1.1.1 (deployed January 20th)
- Client crash on exit (buffer overrun) should no longer happen.
- Fixed an issue where closing the in game browser, would spawn an Exception raised issue on the Mac.
- Fixed an issue with drop down menus in the IGB.
Patch notes for 1.1.0 (deployed January 18th)
- Antialiasing is now disabled for Leopard users to avoid client startup problems.
- Switching between windowed and full screen can now be done via the ESC menu.
- Users can now choose to disable Multithreaded OpenGL via ESC menu settings, this option affects CPU load and graphics performance.
- Running EVE in the background should no longer severely slow down other applications.
Other useful info
- Shortcuts have been changed, for an example the quit client shortcut is now: ALT+SHIFT+Q
- Editing prefs files to start the client in windowed mode no longer works as it used to, please note that you can now change these settings via the ESC menu.
- If you run into any issues try running the repair tool first:
1. Download the Mac repair tool from here. The repair tool will be packaged as a .tgz file 2. Double click the file to extract 3. Double click on the extracted file 'EVE Online Repair.app' 4. When prompted, select the EVE Online client you use to connect to Tranquility and click open 5. The repair tool will auto start and when it displays the text 'complete', press close 6. Run your EVE client as normal
Please use this format for reporting any issues in this thread:
- Description of problem, the more verbal the better
- Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)
- OS version
- Step by step guide to what causes the issue
- Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you

Have not tried testing much, dropping directly into cans works.
Also I was hoping for a Ninja fix to the crashes. Nope, going to PI mode still give me consistent crashes.

Eve Incursion 1.2 with all client patches just crashed to desktop without warning or error, nor crash report generated :-( Fan-!@#$ing-tastic... it's STILL not fixed.

Also still getting the black box "!" for most icons.
I really hope this bug is not around as long as the juke Box bug has been.

I have the same issue with my client showing the black '!' for many icons. Also eve will not run on my laptop. The alp top is an amd Turion 64 with an ati radeon 3200 graphics running vista 32 w/SP 2. Is that no longer supported? I know it is crap ,but how am i to play at school if eve keeps locking up my whole computer? Please help if you can. Thanks

Just curious what happens when AA and Depth are on together? I've had the game now do a few things strange.
One, occasionally when I go through a Jump Gate I get all wierd types of artifacting (tabbing out and back in fixes it right away). The second issue is I was just about to warp to a new Belt and suddenly the game crashed and all I had was a black screen. Music was still playing, but my computer became unresponsive.
Its run everything else I play without issue now.

Any ideas?

This the Macintosh technical support forum; you'll do better in the one designated for Windows I think.

Vast majority of client UI not responding
Last week I experienced some sort of crash - everything in UI (overview, space area, neocom area) was not responding. This happened every time after logging in and undocking from station. The undocking procedure was very slow (approx. 2minutes). Only thing that UI responded to was ESC key (to log off, quitting game was't responsive - had to force quit the client). EvE client was the only app running at the time.
I'm running early 2010 MBP, C2D 2,4Ghz, 4G ram, 250G hdd, nvidia 320m, Snow leo 10.6.3
Multiple client application and computer restart solved the problem so far.

Even when my client is on low settings, the game would crash randomly, usually when I am changing systems. -----------------------

Same problem here: client crashing (or exiting) usually at the end of warp.
Is there something I can enable to generate a crash log? (equiv to minidump on Windows?)

To some extent. read
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Mac_bug_reporting
Near the bottom:
You can grab valuable information by running Eve from the terminal by initiating the Cider trace utility.
1. Run the terminal utility by starting Terminal; use Finder to navigate to /Applications/Utilities 2. Using the command line in Terminal, navigate to your Eve installation by typing
cd ../../Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS
(Replace EVE Online.app with the name of your installation, eg SiSi.app, and remember that if your system is formatted as Mac Journaled HFS+, all file and folder locations are case sensitive. The '\' after EVE is required to recognize the space between EVE and Online in the application name. If you have renamed to a single name, it is not required. If the above full path cd switch doesn't work for you, then do it one at a time, eg cd Applications, cd EVE\ Online.app, cd contents, etc) 3. Run cider with
./cider -debugmsg +seh,+tid,+module,+debugstr &> ~/Desktop/EVEcrashlog.log
4. This will launch the EVE online application. Login and perform the bug you are reporting as expiditiously as possible 5. All output will be stored in a text file called 'EVEcrashlog.log', which can be found on your desktop, and you won't see any data on screen. 6. Once the bug has been reproduced, ZIP the EVEcrashlog.log file and upload the zipped copy to the bug report.

Latest Mac update has removed the HUD buttons for autopilot, tactical overlay, etc, including the zoom buttons even when the option is set to show them...
Same thing happened to a corp mate of mine who plays via the cider client too, so i know its not just me...

Eve is suspected of causing too many startup instability issues on my hard drive. Granted snow leopard is frail, but installing an OS weekly to play a game is hardly justifiable. I was wondering if anyone had input to this hypothesis.

oh I didn't have any of those issues, Eve ran fine, when I could get my mac to boot. Something about the fonts being corrupted, I'm sure. CCP are you hearin this mang? I paid good money for a game I can't "eve"n play now. YAY life!
