Edited by: Hawkules on 16/02/2011 03:26:13 Hey,
Setting the scene: my overall goal is wormhole exploration/PVE and PVP. Currently I'm a Domi pilot with excellent drone and armor tanking skills, however no T2 guns yet. My current plan is to train into the Ishtar in the next month or so for plexing and exploration. Since I've heard bad things about hybrid guns in PVP and bad things about drones in wormholes I was wondering where I go from there?
Do I train for T2 hybrids for the Megathron/other Gallente ships? Or would I be better to cross train for Amarr/Minmatar ships for my goals. One plus I see is that I already have the armor tank skills for Amarr, and Minmatar cruiser 4 if I wanted to head that way.
Essentially I want to train something viable for wormhole PVE whilst still giving me PVP mileage. Will Gallente do this, or should I cross train some?
Any insights are greatly appreciated, Hawk

Fast answer - Tengu --- Join Lowball Heavy Industries. Small, focused fleets - lots of high intensity action, the EVE way. |

Edited by: Hawkules on 16/02/2011 09:52:06 I would prefer to not train too heavily into Caldari, as I have no missile skills. I Generally want something that will expand my general/fleet PVP usefulness and give me more viable wormhole PVE.

If not solo a domi make a good wh boat with tech 2 sentries with and remote reps other than that Legion or Tengu are what we use in our wh

How about pvp/fleet operations viability, should I stick with Gallente (aka train guns) or cross train into another race? I've heard hybrids at the moment don't stand up to the other race counterparts, is this true?
Appreciate the replies so far, very helpful.

Hybrids are ok. They seem to fall in between and not come out as the best in most situations. Close range high damage is ftw when blasters come into play but range is terrible. Luckily, drones make up for that. Gallente has more drone boats that any other faction so your drone skills have to be up there so you can take full advantage of it.
I'd suggest cross training to amarr cause you'll tend to keep most of the support skills that you use for gallente. All you'll need to train for is their ships and weapons. Amarr also has the damnation, which is a nasty command ship and can easily pull some 300k ehp tank if fitted right. Absolution is also a good one with more dps while still putting up a reasonable tank. My corp mate tanked a tengu, falcon and sb for like 1 min in an absolution while i was perma jammed. Long enough for me to lock on and blow up the sb immediately afterwards.
If you have any of those ships my friend, you'll definitely find fleets to join and your presence will be felt by everyone in fleet. You'll need some missile skills though for the damnation but be warned, the dps is not so impressive.
~If you can wait. Hybrids will get some sort of change pretty soon enough. I'm sure of that. Apart from that have fun and don't think too much about what to train. Go with your instincts
