Hello,
I've been playing eve for over a year now...but I'm still kinda new at market trading. I was wondering, is it possible to see the price fluctuation for any specific item going back a year ago? Maybe two years? How far back can i go?

One year. Check Details->Price History->(Time) and pick 1 year.
Clicking on the button marked either "Show Graph" or "Show Table" switches between the two.

EVE Central and other market tracking tools can allow you to go back more by entering in massive dates. My own personal data collection goes back several years for things like Minerals and Reactions etc. I have prices for all T2 from Raw Materials to complex reactions from about 3-4 years ago.
If you plan on playing EVE for the long haul, you need to start now. I highly recommend using Access if you can't program SQL etc. Just create a simple table for each thing you want to track. Date and Price is all you need. I did, Date, Ask and Bid, I have a field in there for quantity but I stopped tracking that about 2 months after I created it. The field was kind of useless for my needs. But it would have been nice to see quantity available.
The good news is you only need to do it once every 11-12 months. Market history goes back that far so it's easy to look up. Gather all the data at once.
