Edited by: Astenion on 24/02/2011 11:34:56 For all you d!ckholes who love to spam that ****ing Stephen Fry video, your argument is null and void. For some incomprehensible reason you think Stephen Fry is against proper speaking and you completely missed the point. Rather ironic, don't you think?
Now...suck my ****.
Suck it

You are correct, he's not against proper speaking. He quite clearly said he was against the likes of you and doesn't want you to claim that he's on your side. It's even more ironic that you missed that point.
I would like to take you up on that offer, but chances are I'd be disappointed with the results.

Wow. Just...wow. I can't believe it. After all this, you STILL don't get it.
If he were "quite clearly against the likes of me" then he wouldn't have even bothered with correcting Alan, would he? Did you even watch the typography video? He's not against people being corrected, he's against people being corrected about pedantic things like nouns becoming verbs and splitting infinitives.
He's speaking about people who are against the invention of new words and usage for the language and not people who want to speak correctly. Things like "he chaired the meeting" are inventive and acceptable. His rant was about the usage of higher, inventive vocabulary in communication being acceptable, not being ignorant of something as simple as a ****ing adverb. It's assumed people learned that in the first grade and are still able to use it correctly, but you know what they say about assuming.

Therefore, I propose we think of a different idiomatic phrase to use...something stronger, more powerful such as "Fly Like Death Incarnate" or some such phrase. Thoughts? Suggestions? "Fly safe/safely" sounds like something your mother would tell you.
Fly Well?

I'm such an idiot! I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner! It's so simple, yet so...PERFECT! It encompasses everything about flying safely, strongly, and confidently. Bravo Slade! You win the internet!

Using well definitely sounds more natural. It sounds like one wishes good fortune to the departed, other than implying that the departed is typically not safe in their actions.
Fake edit: Was I correct in using 'than' instead of 'then' above?

"Fly Well." "Fly Well." Mmm...yes...I like the sound of that. It's almost...regal.
