How will these fights be setup or monitored....?
What is someone brings RR? You cant prove that someone ran away from a fight with a killmail.
Good luck with this, sounds fun! ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

I don't understand why you are so dismissive of this idea.
If you guys didn't have your heads up your butts with Hulkageddon, the festival of the idiots, where you bully and attack defenseless ships and justify it with more nonsense, you might probably have long ago petitioned CCP to create the game mechanics that would make Player-Run tournaments easy for every player in the game.
For example, you might have asked CCP to include a "Death Waiver" (I saw it in a Kung-fu film once) in the game. Instead of having to drop cans, two or more players could sign the "Death Waiver", enabling them to fight in High-Sec without fear of concord intervention. Enabling one and all to enjoy the spectacular spectacle of numerous ship explosions in Jita, on a daily basis. And because it would be geared toward deuls and tournaments the "Death Waiver" might even come with a "send results to..." option, you know, not to enable gambling but it might have effects in that direction....and the possibilities are endless.
But instead of fair play and competition, you guys prefer the cowardly, bullying of Hulkageddon, instead of pushing to make EVE Online the mecca of mmo PvP, you guys prefer the sandbox of stupidity.

Just cos you lost your hulk/hauler/whatever to doesn't mean you should start whining about it in topics that have nothing to do with it, the questions raised, especially the one about running away, are valid ones, now HTFU

As you can clearly see from my last line, I wished the OP Good Luck with his idea and stated that it 'sounds fun'.
My concerns were very clear and I believe justified. Some points I think the OP should think about to improve his tournament.

Yes I agree, the running away or rr are valid concerns, becomes a he said she said moment.
While you want to make this as flexible as possible...perhaps you need referee's or something..or a designated system with moderators (volunteers) to watch the match if your going to include those (-1pt for run away/auto lose) rules.
whats the op's thoughts on this?

As I had not yet seen the op reply....
this is quoted from: http://eonmagazine.net/2011/02/24/starting-1st-march-frigate-tournament/
Quote: If it becomes a case of he said she said and cannot be resolved in a sensible fashion, both will be kicked out as this is a tourney for fun with a little prize money.
ItÆs a free tourney and itÆs totally up to you whether you join or not.
IÆm hoping this will never happen as the vast majority of us are adults and would like to see the tourney run properly.
Seems to me that as long as the players involved are mature and respectful this goes off without a hitch, if they are not and fight about it then they get dropped from the tourney.

You girls having a tantrum?
"Good Luck with that/this" is a dismissive phrase.
And, I think Hulkageddon is releated. And my post was pretty clear about how it is releated.
Clearly, my post contrasts Fair play, sportsmanship and competition which a Tournament is all about, with the current atmosphere of EVE Online which can be summed up with Hulkageddon. My post clearly attempts to argue that if more effort and value were placed on Fair-Play and competition the issues that you raised would not be put forward with a dismissive "Good luck with this..." but would be put forward as goals, things that CCP needs to address, solve, etc. and not pointed out as if they were the holes in his plan.
My post contrasts fair-play and competition with the cowardly, bullying that characterizes the atmosphere of EVE Online, summed up best by Hulkageddon. EVE Players value bullying, no effort is spared on Ganking defenseless ships, there's no problem at all in that, but you'll give up on Fair-play and competition at the slightest hint that there might be a problem.
That's my point.
You pointed out those supposed problems as a way of undermining the effort.

Slade is right and thanks for pulling the quote from our site.
If two players argue over 1 match and cannot be resolved in a sensible fashion then those two players will be removed from the tournament.
Unfortunately, I do not have the resources to referee the games plus everyone is spread out over different timezones.
Tournament goes live tomorrow!
