I'm wondering if there's a program or website that will help me decide what to make with PI ?
I could make robotics at 3 per hour, but if I switch to mech parts, I make 5 per hour and cut the processors needed on the planet I'm making robotics on to afford 4-5 production queues for mech parts instead of 1 for robotics.
We got anything that'll sort through this mess ? :)

This is probably the best tool to use to decide: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1442658
But it's... "non-trivial" to go through every single possibility. Last time I checked a couple of weeks ago, you are better selling the Mech Parts and Consumer Electronics, the Robotics you produce from them are worth less than the required materials never mind the wasted powergrid and so on actually on your planets to have the factories. But the market changes quickly so that could be out-of-date info by now. -------------------------------- http://eveonomics.blogspot.com/ |

Yea, Eve PI has been taking over by Wow Leatherworkers - the Mats sell for more than the finished products most of the time . . . dont forget the export taxes (50k for each P4 item = 5-10% of your profit)

Edited by: Kaztor Troy on 05/03/2011 09:41:48 I'm making a final 20-30% profit margin on a certain advanced (P4) commodity.
Taking into account all the processing that it requires, I may make more ISK / h making P3, or even P2.
The only thing keeping me from changing production is that the P4 is the most stable of all the tiers, as far as the market is concerned. And there's always plenty of demand.

Lower-tier PI goods (especially P1) sell for more than higher-tier ones because people - especially people extracting outside of hisec - like having to haul less, and less often.
I suspect you wouldn't even cover your costs if you were paying a convoy to haul a load of P1 out of nullsec.
Never mind that it might be actually impossible to haul that much volume out of a wormhole.
There's no skillpoint investment, no risk, no effort in hauling 1 jump away from jita to a factory planet, so why should there be universal profit in it?

this is def not true. robotics will yield a little bit more isk every day than its 2 components combined, but the hauling expenses/time will be multifold less.
selling P1, however, will give you a few extra mill/day. but the hauling costs and time required are absolutely ridiculous making it not worthwhile.
