Edited by: Kesler Laduko on 25/02/2011 20:42:31 I've got an issue, my brethren. I love to pirate. I'm almost not able to fly into 1.0 security space (one more kill and I've got it) I have a bounty, I have solo kills, I am eager to learn, and I have a decently trained character that can provide isk to my pvper.
However, I only have a bit more than 1mil SP. This seems to be a show stopper for every pirate recruitment post I have seen. Some want 10 or 15 mil (that's like 8-13 months wait) and others want more (30 mil? Ha!) The corp I'm with is a PvP corp, not really a pirate one. I'd like a corp that supports lowsec piracy, small gang roams, logistics, all that jazz...but I can't find one.
Can anyone help a brother out and point me in the direction of a good pirate corp that accepts eager newbies?
(Fair warning, if someone contacts me about their "uber pirate corp yarrr lol" with 3 members, I will proceed to ridicule you, your parentage, and your "uber" corp...possibly publicly. Damn I hate that.)

Look up The Tuskers, they may not take you in but will certainly point you in the right direction and can give you a list of pirate academies and the like.

Get in touch with Lauren Sheaperd of Cry Wolf. He runs a fairly new, small, pirate corp where SP usually isn't an issue. He's former BMC and you two might work out well together.

Yep, they can help you out, even if you don't join. You should their public channel and hang out. It's "The Tuskers Public Channel" in-game.

Check MEAN Coalition. We operate in Heimatar region Gusandal, Eifer, Hrondedir. The corp is more than 3 years old with many skilled and experienced pilots.
You may be low SP but if you are active player and willing to learn there may be place for you. Ahh yes you must be willing to go -10 no yarrbears will be accepted.
Word of advice. If you are thinking seriously about pirating you will need an alt able to haul stuff for you and make ISK to cover your's main losses. This is best done on second account. Aim for T2 transport ships with that.
Note that most serious pirate corps are invite only and quite hard to join even if you are 20mil SP all in pvp skills pilot.
Best way is to gain some reputation first. Move to area. Be active but don't engage them ( they will kill ya) show you can fight and don't lame. If you aren't convinced or ready to go -10 yet be just casual pirate for a while. Pirate corps won't let you join but you will gain experience so much needed in this job. Player experience in PvP is essential not the SP.
In my opinion you don't know what Eve is until you hit -5 sec status. Be aware that most pirates wont reconize you as pirate until you will be flashy red. People with sec status less than -5 aren't pirates they are carebears no matter what they say.
Being a flashy red pirate with all its limitations is most fun Eve have to offer but if you are badly prepared for that it could be most frustrating also.

I use to live in that area these guys are always active and are more than competent. No gimmicks just solid piloting its also a really short jaunt for your alt to transport from the rens hub.

Edited by: VicturusTeSaluto on 02/03/2011 20:20:02 Metafarmers used to be(ostensibly still is I suppose, but not really active) a pirate training corp. The problem with this is that it is a lot of work to train someone and most just end up leaving eve anyways...
Also if someone has already played EVE as anything other than a pirate then they probably have been playing an entirely different game with a completely incorrect mindset. If you are new to eve and only interested in pure piracy then it would be much easier for someone to train you.
Trying to approach piracy with low sp is a very good idea. Remember that all you need to be effective is to be able to fly a frigate and fit a warp disruptor. Also your personal skill is much more important than your character's SP so getting experience in actual piracy is the most important thing. Don't try putting it off until you have a certain amount of SP or can pilot a certain ship.
It may be hard to find the right corp but just let them know how you feel about piracy etc. Also solo piracy is still viable or if you hang around pirate corp public channels you may find some friends to run with.

DoV has begun opening its doors to people who wants to learn piracy. However, at your SP level, a life of piracy will be very challenging. We dont really have a min SP policy but you should be fairly self sufficient and be able to keep yourself in ships.
Most importantly though, you have to be a cool brosef. No obsessing about k/d ratios, getting angry on Vent and calling everyone ******s or bragging about how you constantly win at eve. Those things have gotten people kicked out of DoV faster than you can say "fat neckbeard".

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.
I'm still looking, and so far I've been turned down by the Tuskers because of...well, I'm still not sure why, but someone voted "no" on my app and that was that.
I've applied to the Meatshield part of The Bastards, hoping to hear back from them.
Onwards and upwards...at least until I get blown up.

Dont get to caught up in what someones recruitment info says. There are lots of pie corps that would love to take in new pvpers. Its allways good to have another tackler and soem them the ropes if they have the time. For a lot of older pvpers and older pie corps alot of them get tired of training people and some of us just get jaded like myself.

It's hard for me to imagine "The Tuskers" telling you to take PVP classes from Agony or Eve Uni; the PVP they teach is not the same as lowsec piracy.
What I can imagine telling you is the reason for our minimum SP requirement: we want our new corp members to be able to participate with us in the fleets we typically run. These days we do a lot of BC gangs, BC's with logistics support, BC's of a certain kind gangs, Black Ops gangs, stealth gangs, etc.--and a pilot who only flies T1 frigates would be limited in how he could participate. I recall suggesting you skill up your BC and support skills to at least IV, and maybe some T2 frigate as well, and then applying even if you didn't meet the SP requirement.
I think I was asked if I was saying one can't do PVP in T1 frigates, but of course that's not what I was saying at all. Many successful pirates started being successful from week 1 of playing EVE.

There are many good PvP'ers who learnt a lot of valuable lessons in Eve Uni m8, maybe you should have tried it your self. And contrary to what the OP seemed to find laughable, there are many good pirates in 2 or 3 man corps.
To the OP, maybe you can't find a corp to take you on yet, but that doesn't mean you can't make friends, find people to fly with, and chat to about intel, fits, tactics etc. When you join channels, don't just ask to be recruited off the bat, talk to people, make contacts. And if you want to be a low-sec pirate, get yourself into low-sec and start fighting. No better way to learn than by doing, and along the way you will stand a chance of getting noticed, making friends with those you fight, and getting invited into gangs. So it goes.
