I want my own plot of space to farm and call my own so any suggestions on how I go about it. I dont want WH space cos that's a waste of time, like 30 mins scanning before you can actually get into the game. How are we goin to do it guys?

Go put up some SBUs in Delve, I hear there's lots of systems up for grabs these days.

I'm new here but I am also ambitious. This forces me to show my ignorance. What is an SBU? what skills do I need for one?

Edited by: Shoopa Whoopa on 26/02/2011 11:40:55 You have three options: 1) find a nice sov holding corp 2) use wormhole space 3) die a horrible, horrible death

1 be a slave 2 be a target 3 commit suicide There is possibly another option which is form a corp/alliance and kick someone out. That's bad Khama tho and a last resort. Like I said I just want a little plot and to be left in peace.

I suppose you could become a renter; that's the secret fourth option - but it might be similar to option 3, depending who you rent from.
As a startup there's little chance to claim and hold 0.0 by oneself.

Contact a member of Goonswarm Federation or Test Alliance Please Ignore. I hear they can hook you up with some space in either Deklein, Fountain, or Delve.

I believe you are fundamentally misunderstanding what you are asking for.
Sov (sovereignty), is actual "ownership" of a system by a certain alliance. Said alliance can then upgrade the system in various ways (better complexes, better mining sites predominantly), add various useful features to the system (the ability to block Cynos, the ability to put up jump bridges, the ability to build Titans / Motherships etc).
Sov is expensive in terms of maintenance, and risky, since you need a considerable military force to defend it in the event of Sov warfare (read: supercap blob warfare).
If you just want "your own plot of space to farm", you do not need sov at all. Simply find out what you want to do, and start looking for a quiet place to do it in. There are plenty of fringe systems in New Eden which are more or less uninhabited. Go exploring!

Unless I'm off each system you have sovreignty in costs 20 million per day. Unless you can find a system that is so crappy that no other alliance wants it as soon as you gain sov you will have a 200 man gang with supercapitals on your doorstep. Joining a sov holding corp is NOT slavery. You do have some duties such as ops to defend your space and a lot of time you have to help pay for the sov but it isn't bad. If you want to try and get sov by yourself... Good Luck...

ha - that was the only fallacy you found in his post?
OP, as others have pointed out, you're either fundamentally misunderstanding EvE, misunderstanding Sov, or just naive.
Sov isn't something intended to be held by an individual. Doesn't mean it couldn't be done, but it would require an extremely dedicated effort and you would never, ever "be left in peace".
0.0 is, for the most part, a zero-sum game. If you have something and it's even vaguely worth having, someone else will take it from you just because you having it means they don't.
As someone else said, if you want a quiet corner of the EvE universe to do your thang, you can probably find it. If you want access to arguably the most profitable and valuable areas with no risk, you're naive/stupid/selfish.
Also, your post shows you know nothing about WH space, so you should probably look into that before spouting more nonsense. That's the closest thing to Sov you'll get all by your lonesome.
