You aren't kidding, every time I fly into one everything starts lagging in the client. I think you've found the easiest solution to them, zoom out. ------------------------------------------------ Quafe is people! Welcome to eve where your sensibilities are a liability |

I always say, if you're zoomed in close enough to see your ship, you're probably gonna die soon anyway. You want to be zoomed out to at least see your entire targeting range, and usually further. And yeah, not sure why the space clouds kill FPS so much when so many other games, even really really old ones, handle it flawlessly and in a much more visually appealing way.

well for people like you they can just make all the graphics an option and then just play with squares, dots and triangles....

sad thing is those squares dots and triangles take more power then many of the graphics functions at times. turning them off is one of the best ways to reduce frame rate lag in a large fleet battle.

Other games have competent devs.
But I digress; there is no way to turn them off short of hacking the client, which will get you banned.

You're both wrong.
The problem is fillrate and only about 1% of all game devs seem to know fillrate constraints exist. GPU manufactures tend to not care that much about fillrate either.
The Trinity engines handling of transparency is fairly good.
Zooming out helps because it reduces the number of texels visible. Reducing resolution has the same effect.
If you run at full-HD resolution it's not the games fault at all. You chose a resolution your GPU can't handle with Eve.
Also, if you have stuff like multi- or supersampling (or even worse supersampling AA) enabled, again: your fault.

4 gigabyte ram isnt exactly much, the GFX is from 2009, and what kinda quadcore are you using?.
on a related note:
i cant run 2 eve clients with 16x antialising and max settings with 60 fps, those devs sure does suck for making suck a horrible engine :<

my resolution is 1400x1050 and i play without anti-aliasing
my processor is an AMD athlon II X4 630 2.8Ghz
lowering the resolution isnt an option since it would mess up my screen: text boxes and overview would get too large...
