Hi folks, been skill training up to create an alliance. Will have Empire Control L5 this Sunday so will be able to pay the 1,000,000,000 Billion ISK to create an alliance.
A few question, and yes I have read every work in the Wiki more than once;
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Alliance
When creating an alliance, I understand it creates a new ticker symbol. Do I lose my original CORP ticker symbol or so I still have my Corp and the Alliance Corp as well with a second name?
Do you every have to pay the 1 Billion ISK again or is that a one time thing?
Thanks

The alliance has its own ticker. Your corp still exists within the alliance with its ticker.
The alliance name cannot be the same as any alliance, corp, or character in the game.
The 1 billion ISK is a one-time fee. There is a recurring fee of 2M ISK per corp in the alliance, per month. --- SOMER Lotteries SOMER Blink - new! SOMER Escrow Services |

Thank you kindly for your response.
So from what I understand my original Corp will retain it's name and ticker symbol yet there will be a new "Alliance" division "TAB"? And that's about it? Costs a billion, pay it once and you are done? Two ticker symbols and two sort of entities that exist as long as you pay your EVE bill? lol! :) Thanks.

Edited by: Estel Arador on 02/03/2011 11:25:30 Damn the first sentence of that wiki article was confusing. I've edited it to the following:
An Alliance is an organisation with one or more corporations as a member; it is a collection of corporations, just as a corporation is a collection of players.
Is that more clear?

Yes that is more clear, thank you.
So let's say my CEO has a Corporation called "The Blues Brothers" Ticker [BB]
And at Level 5 Empire Control he creates an Alliance called "The Elite Gods" symbol [TEG].
At that point is the corporation "The Blues Brothers" already a perpetual a member of "The Elite Gods"? Or must it join? And Can it leave?
Thanks.

At the point you create the Alliance, BB is the first and only member. It is also the Executor Corp. of the alliance. Any new corps will have to submit an application which you (the Executor Corp) can accept or deny. Your corp can leave the alliance after 7 day and appoint another Executor Corp if needed.

Thanks, I am understanding it a little more.
So the Corp [BB] that creates the Alliance becomes the executor corp and only member of the new alliance.
Scenario; So one other corp joins (Corp XXX). Someone declares war on the alliance. My corp [BB] leaves the alliance and passes off the war dec on [XXX]. Is it then needed to pay the 1 billion ISK again to become an excutor corp again and rejoin alliance with [XXX] once the war is over?
Thanks
Thanks

You never pay the Billion fee again , only the ongoing 2 million per month per corp. You can change executor corps by voting the new one in. You can join or leave, as often as you like. No new fee's.
Changing Executors is kind of a pain, just to avoid wars. It would be better/easier to have XXX stay as the permanent Executor imo. And drop your main corp in and out of alliance. That won't save you from personal wardecs btw... If someone wants to target you , the only safe place is is an NPC corp.

@ RavenPaine - Thank you for an excellent insight. I have the Wiki Document so well read that it may actually be memorized, yet it's so vague;
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Alliance
It is a relief to know that the 1,000,000,000 Billion ISK is a one time fee for the skill of creating an Alliance.
This is now getting to be a bit related to strategy so maybe I should move the chain to that area.
I.E. My corp [BB] creates an Alliance [AA]. [BB] is automatically a member of [AA] and they join with [CC], another corp. The 7 days goes by.
Suddenly PvP Pirates WarDec the Alliance. [BB] (As Alliance Executor) drops Alliance with [AA].
Does that leave [CC] as their heir to a war solely?
And more strategy wise, doesn't that give [BB] and [AA] time to ally again, thus making it time and process impossible for any single corp to maintain a constant war against [BB] and [AA] (Aside from any interim alliance) with the monetary benefit in any and all wars just left off on [CC] whom may actually be a low train corp pilot that just never flies?
:)
Yes, I did mention moving this chain to the Strategy area...
Thanks for all the great responses.

Strategy? Where's the strategy in dropping alliance the moment you get wardecced.
Anyway, the wardec affects the alliance, not any particular corp. When you leave the alliance, you are no longer under the effect of a wardec (a 24h cooldown might apply, I don't recall exactly). When you join the alliance again and it is still being wardecced, you will be under the wardec immediately. ---

If you're creating an alliance to avoid war decs this is an expensive way of doing it
What you could do if you're suffering from a lot of repeated/random war decs is to create a second corp [BB] and have corp members move in and out of that corp each time the corp [AA] gets war dek'd.
If they don't need roles in either corp this process is a lot faster.
IF they have jump clones available moving to a different region (not constellation that's rubbish), is a good idea and you can base that second corp over there on a semi permanent basis.
IF you really want to spend a billion isk it could be better served getting a few t1 hulls together and actively engaging them for the fun of it for a day or two to see how it goes.
Apart from that, good luck. View The Eve Industrial Organiser Site

It is one billion ISK. It is also not for the skill, but for the creation of an alliance. --
